Back in 2002, when Cortney wasn't talking much, and when she did it was one word utterances, we were lucky enough to acquire this communication device. I fought long and hard to get this.....many letters of medical necessity......many, many times. During these past 7 years, it augmented her speech, but the amazing part? Her verbal communication grew by leaps and bounds! This machine served as her model, and she became a quick learner. So recently, her teachers and I met with a rep from the company to see if there were new and more innovative ways to use this device, and of course there were........ : )
To aid in her furthering speech, it was necessary to purchase 3 flashdrives. I picked up these cute colorful ones at Target. (You know the place? The one where you can never get out of the store without at least spending a $100? Yea, that one.) I needed to label them, so her teachers and I use each flashdrive for a specific purpose. So being the scrappy gal I am, I decided to label each one using a luggage tag. I used Noel Mignon's 5 ft 2 & Eyes of Blue kit and JustRite's Times New Roman font and horizontal stamper to write Cort's name. Here is the other side of the tag.
My thoughts and ideas for cardmaking and an occasional altered project!

A Heart That Loves is Always Young.....
What a great saying this is! It is part of JustRite's newest release, Friendship Borders and Centers. I stamped the image with Momento and colored the cake in with my Copics. I added Stickles to give it some sparkle. I used various Nesties for the entire card. I added a satin ribbon and a couple of buttons to finish it off.
Well, I found out that my insurance covers absolutely nothing towards braces.....zip, nada, zilch.....bummer. : (
Thank goodness they offer payment plans...........
Have a great Thursday!!!!! : )

Noel Mignon's Current Challenge!
This week's challenge over at Noel Mignon's blog is to scrap a summer tradition. Summer in my house wouldn't be the same w/o Kyle swingin' in the backyard. He kicks off his shoes, closes his eyes, (Sometimes sings to himself......ahem.....) and enjoys the warm breeze on his face. I think it's his way of decompressing. (Maybe I should try it??) I used Noel's 5ft 2 & Eyes of Blue kits, as well as some 7 Gypsies ephemera.
I EVEN did some stitching here......(Don't hem a pair of pants, but by golly, I'll sew on a page!)

False alarm yesterday! No braces for the kid. He had X-rays and impressions taken. He won't get them on until the 27th. He is going away to Boy Scout camp next week, and we agreed it probably wasn't a good idea to put them on before that. So on the 27th, I am officially in the poor house! sheesh.....the cost of beauty! ; )

Release Day at JustRite!
Today is an exciting day over at JustRite! 6 sets are now available for purchase!!! Hop on over HERE to see all 6 sets!
For my card today, I used the new Friendship set. (This has to be one of my favorite sets! ) I love that the images in this set are large......3 1/4! I colored the image with my Copics and then added Flower Soft to the flowers. I paper pieced the pot to match my DP. My nesties were used for the circles.

My son is seeing the orthodontist today.......he is finally ready for braces! This poor kid has terribly crooked teeth, and even he can't wait to get them fixed! He is one of the last kids to get them in his class because the ortho told us his facial structure was too immature. Well, I guess he has "matured" enough......because today is the big day! : )

Crafty Secret's Tutorial
The DT gals at Crafty Secrets have so much to share with you today! We are each presenting a tutorial today! Mine is going to show you how to use texture paste in some fun and innovative ways. It is a rather long post.....so grab you beverage of choice and enjoy!
Texture paste is found at most hobby stores and is pretty inexpensive. They come in a variety of colors, but for today's tutorial, I am using white. I am going to show you how to make "frosting" for all of those cake stamps you own, as well as make some fun seashell embellishments. This is all you need.......texture paste, sand, seed beads.
I stamped this cupcake from the Sweet Stuff set by Crafty Secrets and colored it with my Copics.

Here is my finished cupcake jar!
Doesn't it look like real frosting?
For this card (Which was posted a couple of weeks ago, so I apologize for the re-run!) I spread texture paste around the entire perimeter of the card. I used my finger to spread it, and then sprinkled those seed beads again.......
The card image was from the Girlfriend's Creative Scraps!
Now, on to those seashell embellishments! : )
Just punch a hole in the top with a hole punch and thread some jute or twine and attach it to your card!
The main image is from the Crafty Secret's Seaside set. Both cards were colored in with Copics. The card on the right had some paper piecing for her dress and hat.

I had to create a starfish too!
I hope I've inspired you to try this fun medium!
