8th Grade....

As most of you know, getting pictures of Cortney can be difficult. Not only does she have to try and keep her head straight, but she has trouble looking at the camera. (Her eyes wander a lot due to her nystagmus) When she smiles, I usually get a tonsil shot. Not attractive. But these pics......ahhhhhh these pics were perfect of my girl. Blue eyes, great smile....cute, cute, cute!

I used Noel Mignon's Core Curriculum kit (sold out), for this LO.

I did a little Photoshopping to the photos. : )
It was a tough night last night in the Kovack household. Having children can just rip your heart out at times. (My mom warned me about that!) My son was in tears all night. My big guy....7th grade......crying. His supposed "friend" has been nasty to him, so he mustered up the courage to call him and find out why he was being treated so poorly, only to have his friend repeatedly say, "Whatever." As a mother I wanted to rip the phone out of Kyle's hands and ask this kid what the heck his problem was.......but I didn't. I waited until their one sided conversation was over. Then consoled my boy as his heart was breaking. Being a kid is tough. As a mother you want to fix everything.........but can't. So I guess the best I can do is give a lot of hugs, some advice, and an ear to listen with.
Today is picture day at my school, so I need to get a move on and pick out some pretty clothes!
I have Spanish class after school today......so busy, busy day!
Have a great one!!!!! : )

  1. Sometimes it's so hard to be a mom. Your son has a great person in his corner and that's you. Hang in there mom.... Growing up isn't easy...not for parents or kids.

Your page is beautiful and the photos are very sweet. What a darling smile.

  2. I have been where you are with your son, it is hard when you have kids that are nice and kind because when they get hurt it is so rough they would never hurt their friends like that and as the mom yes you want to just yell so I think you did the right thing and pray on it I always told my kids people who hurt, hurt so tell Kyle he is a good person and to just move on until his friend can get it together. Courtney looks so precious in her picks Jacob just started Elim we are so Happy!!! Ph your pages as always beautiful I love all your work such talent you have been blessed with
    Thank You! Leslie

  3. Courtney looks sweet and your page is super fab with the mix of all those items! You are getting so good and I as getting so envious!

Tristan was having troubles two days ago in grade one. The class is three quarters girls and they were making up stories about him and getting him all riled up. I told him I was gonna call the school if this continued (since all six classes of grade one are dominated by girls who can be so clique-y). He was like "NO!". So I just have to hope he deals with these things and doesn't let it affect them too much...drives me nuts though...

  4. I'm so sorry your boy went through that yesterday. What a sweetheart! It can be so tough--wish we could take all the pain for them, but then they wouldn't learn anything, would they?

Your daughter is just stunning! Those photos are treasures--well done!

Poor Kyly.....kids are so tough and you are doing what you can do...support and love!!! Evan just had a problem with two boys spitting on him at lunch and my daughter and I were outraged! We sent in a note and then had to make a visit to the school....I could just wring their little necks...oops...sorry but makes me so mad!!! Give Kyle a big HUG from Me.....

  8. Beautiful pictures of Courtney. Wow! 8th grade. Its rough when Kids get to middle school and high school. They're so cruel to each other and so much peer pressure. One day they're friends, the next they're enemies then best friends again. I went through it with all of mine. Its hard not be the Mother Hen. Thank God they get through it.. I don't know how... I guess all the praying helps. :)

  9. Gorgeous layout Michele, love all the embellies.

Kids can be so nasty at times, but I think you did the right thing not taking the phone and giving lots of hugs and kisses. Hope all is sorted soon.

    hugs

  14. She is beautiful! I know what you mean about getting a good shot! My daughter (also has CP) also has Nystagmus--I used to feel guilty for Photoshopping it, but my intent was that people see the joy radiating from her rather than her one eye turned in.

As for your boy, I can't say much as my son is not quite 5 and hasn't had to deal with that yet. I'm sure it will break my heart too though!

    Thanks for sharing your family!
