Welcome to the Autism Awareness Blog Hop! We are so glad you are joining us!! The cause of this Blog Hop is very near and dear to all of us, and we all need to be aware that Autism is rapidly increasing in numbers in our children. 1 in every 100 children is diagnosed with Autism. It is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. Know the Signs: Early Identification Can Change Lives Autism is treatable. Children do not "outgrow" autism, but studies show that early diagnosis and intervention lead to significantly improved outcomes. Today, on the 4th Annual World Autism Awareness Day, we are joining prominent buildings across North America and the world — including the Empire State Building in New York City and the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada — who will turn their lights blue to raise awareness for autism and to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day. Light it up Blue is aiming to light the world blue all throughout April — city by city, town by town — by taking action to raise autism awareness in our communities. So help us, LIGHT it up BLUE this month! Cortney doesn't have autism but many of her friends do. These children have a special place in my heart and Cort's life! I see the struggles that these children and parents endure on a daily basis. We need to raise the general publics' awareness of this rapidly growing disability! You should have come here from Paula's Blog, if not feel free to start at the beginning of the hop here. For my card today I used an older Quickutz die I had in my stash to cut the puzzle. The frame was cut using my Cricut and the Elegant Frames cartridge. I cut the flowers using the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge, and the key from the French Manor cartridge. I did lots of inking and glittering.......and added a bit of seam binding and rhinestones. The word, hope, was stamped from an old magnetic stamp set I had in my stash by Making Memories. It was stamped directly on vellum with Versamark. I embossed it in black.
What a beautiful card!!!! I adore the colors and the flower!!!
ReplyDeleteAutism effects so many families and it is truly so sad!!!!

Thank you for posting this. I have a 4 year old daughter that was diagnosed super early at only 13 1/2 months with severe Autism & because of the early help we were able to give her while I say she will always have her special ways of doing some things and always have Autism, she is living a normal life and has lots of friends and is doing things I was always afraid she would never be able to do. My daughter received tons of therapy, which she has now graduated from, but is also on a very strict GFCF diet which has totally saved her life. I would love to win this cartridge. I can see myself making several things for my daughter with this and it's been quite a while since my budget has allowed me to buy anything fun for me. Thank you for being part of this hop and bringing more awareness for Autism. Great work on your card, I love it. I hope I win!!!

ReplyDeleteOh Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This touches my heart. Our 6 year old grandson has Aspergers we just found out about three months ago. We have known for about 4 years that there was something wrong but his mother didn’t want to find out. But she went to a family reunion and her sister is a nurse and she took her aside and told her it wasn’t her fault. BUT we must help Jacob so get him tested. They did and this boy is so loving and gentle and carring, a differentic from day and night. He is very loving and doesn’t act out anymore. He still don’t like changes, large group of people in one place. Everything has it place and we don’t change that. This is a cause close to my heart. Blue is my flavorite color and I will have to make this card for him.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sarah for another chance to win. This win would be for Jacob.
Sincerely

I myself have a daughter with autism PPD-NOS and by catching the no talking after 9 months and going thru a speech therapist and getting into a early intervention program at 1 1/2 years old, and continuing at a local school when she turned 3 and omg ...early intervention WORKS!!!!! if you suspect anything is wrong please call your pediatrician to start the steps..it takes a while to get started but my little girl now will be 4 in Sept ..is talking up a storm, just got potty trained and making so much progress..she now knows her alphabet and can count to like 17..I thank God everyday that I noticed the stacking, spinning in circles, temperament changes, and non talking to get her help. sorry to ramble but I hope someone who know someone with a child like this...catching early is the KEY!!!

Love your card! Autism is near and dear to my heart becuase my son has high functioning autism. It's a disease that we don't really understand yet and more and more kids are being diagnosed each year. I live in Canada and our government is now funding much more to push for more positive outcomes for these kids. Thanks for the chance to win and for highlighting Autism!

Your card is wonderful. I am a retired first grade teacher. I have learned so much from each child that I had the honor to teach. This is a wonderful cause. I am so happy that more people are learning about this and understanding how little we know about how our brains work and how much we need to learn and are learning from these amazing children.
