My Girl......an Elite Model....

Many of you have been following my blog for some time and have been so incredibly supportive of my daughter, Cortney.  ModelSource Magazine did a photo shoot with her yesterday and she is now listed as one of their Elite Models. Can you believe it?! I am so over the moon about this!

So much of her life has been struggle upon struggle.  She has had to overcome so much. I've had to overcome so much. As a parent of a special needs child, you feel sometimes like all you do is fight.  Fight with the schools. Fight with doctors. Fight with insurance companies. Fight with  van dealerships, and sometimes the general public's ignorance.  My girl has had to fight with her own body and mind to accomplish things. Just learning to hold her head up, grasp an object, tell her mama that she loves her. ; ) And one by one she conquered those obstacles.   Cortney is not your typical 17 year old, but she is special. She is beautiful. She  brings a smile to anyone's face who meets her. Her being lights up a room....  God certainly had a plan for her.
So meet the newest Elite Model! : D
My heart goes pitter patter everytime I look at her......
Have a great weekend my friends!

Becca Feekin's October Kit!

It's time again to see what the talented Ms. Becca Feekin has come up with for her October kit.  Each kit I've had the pleasure of working with is so elegant and so "Becca." This month's kit is no exception.  It comes with two coordinating Spellbinder's corner dies.  I used them in two different ways on my card.  First, I used them as a background to my dress form in blue.  And secondly, I used them as the dress portion of my dress form in a creamy vellum.  The sentiment is a beautiful script font that I adore.
I added a Petaloo flower, ribbon, and some felt Spellbinder's leaves to finish it off.
Here is the set in its entirety.
And the Spellbinder's dies that coordinate. : )
Be sure to visit Becca's blog for further details.
The other designers have created projects that are gorgeous, so be sure to pop on by for a visit!

Well Cortney and I are off to her first ever modeling shoot.  I am a wee bit nervous (as you already know) and hoping she cooperates.  So wish us luck, and hopefully, I can update ya tomorrow! ; )
Have a great Friday!

Boo!

Good morning!  I have a Halloween shadow box to share with you today.  Unfortunately, the lighting and my camera were not really cooperating!  So I apologize for the lousy pictures.  Hopefully, you can see past the bad photography!  I used papers and a Halloween image from Crafty Secret's Creating With Vintage Halloween digital CD.  I love the fact that you are able to print the papers any size you want! The background was cut using my Silhouette.
The candy corn was also a Silhouette cut, but the leaves were left over cuts from my Cricut.  So quite the hodge podge of companies here! ; )
This post is going to be short and sweet today! I have to run!
Have  a great day my friends!

That's How I Roll.....

Since starting this little blog of mine in 2007, I have met some pretty amazing people.  Fellow bloggers who are artsy, who have shared their stories, listened to mine, and in doing so we have forged friendships.  I believe we all cross paths for a reason.  Every person plays a role in your life......some how....some way. Nothing is an accident.  I have been blessed.  I met a fellow artsy mom, Paula, who just happened to have a special needs daughter around Cortney's age.  We've e-mailed many times and bonded instantly.  Maybe it was having something in common, or the fact that she is just a funny, kind hearted woman who has taken what life has given her and turned it into lemonade. She does amazing work with vinyl and came up with the cutest T-shirts that celebrate our kids.  She made one just for Cortney.   Cortney loves her T-shirt.....and I love her T-shirt.!  So thank you dear Paula for this special gift to Cortney!
I used lots of Spellbinder's dies here.....from the Poloroid frame to the camera...to the flowers and leaves. (Spellbinder's Snapshot, and Foliage Two.) The sentiments are part of JustRite's Samantha Walker stamp set called, Ooh La La French Frills.....
I did a bit of masking with a Hambly screen and white paint.  I added a spattering of sequins too.  ; )

And since I am on a Cortney post today, I thought I'd share my girl doing her homework.  She is learning about density and had to do an experiment on whether objects would sink or float.  She is often a girl who is not very patient.  But for this, she stuck with it for nearly an hour and a half.  She was excited to make her predication and see if she was correct.  I couldn't have been more proud of her.  We are blessed that she goes to a school that expects her to learn.  She learns things in all academic areas.....and they push her to keep striving for her potential.

So with that said, I have to share an exciting piece of news....Cort has her first photo shoot on Friday with a modeling agency.  I am, she is....super excited! I am also extremely nervous. I hope it goes well.......and she smiles her face off that day! : D

Spider Web Box

Well...it's officially fall in my house.  The clothes from summer are put away. Sweaters, corduroys, and boots are all ready for the cooler weather, and we had a good rain last night.  I woke up to the colors of the trees vibrant, and the front grass begging to be raked.! Fall is definitely my favorite time of year.  There is something cozy...homey.....and gets me in the "nesting" mood.  So in between my "chores" I've been puttering around my craft room.  I've had a bit of time to play around with the Silhouette.  I found this cute spider box cut for Halloween and knew I had to make one!
Of course black glitter was totally necessary.....as well as the glittery orange ribbon, and cute lil' spider.  (The only spider, in my book, that is cute!) The sentiment is from My Craft Spot.
Today is "Catch up on laundry and craft in-between" day!  So I'd better get going so I can get everything done! ; )
Have a great Sunday!
