Goodbye 2012......Hello Giveaway!

Blog Candy is now CLOSED
It is hard to believe how fast this year has gone.  I think that is a sign of getting older! ; )
This has been a year of change, some good, some not so good.  But if nothing, I have learned to roll with the punches, and not sweat the small stuff.  I have learned that laughter IS The best medicine, and to ALWAYS appreciate what you've got.  My life isn't perfect, but for me, I have the perfect life.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Last year I made these little ditty's for the Cricut Circle Magazine.  It was a little New Year's invite and treat bag.  ( I really should have filled the treat bag for the photo. : (
I used a variety of cartridges here, Boys Will be Boys (numbers), Simply Charmed (Champagne bottle), and the Picturesque Cartridge (Card shape).

I also used the Number Collage embossing folder for the purple background. I wanted to give the champagne a bit of pop, so I added purple tinsel to the top of the bottle.
Now to celebrate the change of year, how about a little giveaway?  It is my way of saying thank you for a great year! For supporting me, and visiting me.
ONE winner will get ALL of this!
What do you have to do?
Tell me if you make New Year's resolutions.  If you do what are they?
If you would like a second chance to win, you can do any of the following:
Become a follower, post my giveaway on Pinterest, Facebook, or your blog.
Come back and leave me a second comment telling me you do so, and your name will be entered twice!
A winner will be selected this Wednesday, January 2 at 10 PM CST.
GOOD LUCK!
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIENDS!!!
XOXOX

JustRite's New Release-Day Four!

Good morning to you! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July holiday!  Our town does a big parade and fireworks show every year, so we attended that and watched the fireworks from our back yard.....we are lucky!

Today is JustRite's Day 4 of new releases!  Today's set is a vintage inspired set that I just adore! It is called, Just Because Vintage Labels.   I colored mine in with Copics and cut it out using Spellbinder's Vintage Label and Banner die.  I cut the Eiffel Tower using my Cricut and then gave it a healthy dose of purple glitter.  The background was stamped using the Fleur De Lis stamp.
I embossed the cream card stock, and then added the ruffled ribbon.
The flower was cut using my Cricut and the left over Fleur De Lis stamped paper.
Here is the set in its entirety. Beautiful right?!

Thinking of You....

Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and Father's Day! I have been so busy with family, kids, swimming, acting as chauffeur....that I haven't crafted in 3 days! eeek! I have lots to catch up on for CHA! So today I will bury myself in my room and check a few things off the list! I have a card to share with you that uses my absolute favorite cartridge, Flower Shoppe!  This orange and black flower was left over from something else and I couldn't bare to waste it.  So it found itself on this card, along with a few leaves, seam binding and a stamped sentiment from My Craft Spot.  ( I ADORE Kimberly's sentiment stamps!!!)
I did a bit of embossing with my Cuttlebug and added a ruffled doily for a subtle texture.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for a vintage inspired giveaway!  Lots of fun stuff to give to a lucky winner!
Enjoy your day and thank you for stopping by for a visit!  I know how crazy busy summers can be.....so I truly appreciate it!

Happy Father's Day!

Good morning and happy Father's Day to you! I have lots to do since I am having company in a few hours, but I wanted to share a banner I made last year for the Cricut Circle Blog. My dad is a pretty avid golfer, so this banner was perfect for him!  I used the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge.  The banners themselves were cut using the Country Life cartridge.  For my little golf bag, I included a little golf towel that I hand cut from a washcloth and affixed with a teeny eyelet.
Every golfer loves the golf cart.....especially my son....because that's as close to driving as he is going to get for awhile! ; )

And here is the golfer with his crazy golfer outfit.  I don't know if any of your husbands play golf, but dressing is half the fun.  Or maybe that's just my husband? ; ) My husband dresses a bit wacky at times....the more obnoxious the better! So this little golfer was definitely inspired by him!  He orders many of his shorts from a place called Loudmouth Golf.  (The name really says it all doesn't it?)

I used the Cuttlebug's Polka Dots embossing folder to emboss the circles to look like dimples in the golf balls.

Here is the banner in it's entirety.

I am off to get my food ready and the kids up!  Have a great day my friends!

JustRite's New Release Day Three!

It is Friday and that means it is day three of JustRite's new releases!  The set we are showcasing today is called Botanical Medallions and Banners.  It has the prettiest floral images to color, and I absolutely adore the banners!  I colored my flowers with Copic Markers, added a bit of glitter, and pearls to the centers.  I stamped the banner stamp in olive green and cut it out with a coordinating Spellbinder's die called Vintage Label and Banner Dies.  The back panel was embossed and a circle cut out to create a sort of shadow box.
I added purple satin ribbon and these pretty leaves from the Stamp Simply Store.
The DT gals have done it again! Be sure to visit them and see their fabulous projects!

Tonight is prom night!  Cort has been talking nonstop about going to her dance today!  I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am able to get some good pictures of her and her friends.  I will share tomorrow!
Have a great Friday everyone!

Hi Sunshine!

I can't believe it is Friday already! This week just flew by! Oh wait! Maybe it was because I only worked 4 days!; ) Every week should be so short! I have a very bright happy card to share with you today.....so get those sunglasses on before you scroll down. It uses Provo Craft's new Cuttlebug Flower Fringe die, . It creates such a fun flower! I used Pink Paislee's paper and a bit of fluorescent tulle.  I added a few glittery letters, twine, and rhinestones to finish the card off.  It was actually a pretty quick card for me.....like less than 2 hours!
I also have a delicious recipe to share with you.  If you like blue cheese and bacon you are going to fall in love with this side dish!
Nutty Greens with Bacon and Blue Cheese
Recipe Courtesy of Claire Robinson of the Food Network

Ingredients:
Kosher Salt
1 lb haricots, verts, trimmed
3 slices bacon
4 oz blue cheese, cut into small chunks
1 1/2 cups toasted whole pecans, coarsely chopped
1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Directions:
Brian a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the haricots verts and cook for about 2 minutes. Remove the beans from water and immediately place in a bowl of ice water. Remove the haricots verts from the ice water and set aside in a medium bowl.

In a large saute pain, over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Remove the bacon and place on paper towels. Add the beans to the bacon drippings and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.  Add the blue cheese and toss just until is starts to melt.  Break the cooked bacon into bite-sized pieces and add to the pan.  Finish by stirring in the toasted chopped pecans.  Season with freshly ground black pepper and just a pinch of salt. serve immediately.

Thank you for your suggestions on photo collage sites!  I was able to find exactly what I was looking for!
Have a great weekend!

Shaker Box & Cuttlebug Kids!

I don't know why I HAD to have this die cut by Cuttlebug....I guess I am drawn to anything cute! So the day I got it I had to play. I haven't made a shaker box in years and decided it would be fun to make one again. I used the negative space from my oval scallop punch. I cuttlebugged the transparency in the background (IF you click on it you might see it....it is pretty subtle) I filled it with iridescent sequins for the snow. The paper is from Paper Salon which I sewed....yes, I AM on quite the sewing kick these days.....not clothes....just cards! I stamped the sentiment on white twill, added a black polka dot photo corner....which by the way, is a the back side of Martha Stewart's Halloween paper pack! I thought it needed a little black to balance the black in the penguin. And last but not least, I used some OLD acrylic snowflakes, tied some white floss, and it was done.
