Dancing Penguin!

I can't tell you how happy I am that it is Friday. My week has been a bit trying and I will be glad to see it end! My van was returned to me, but not fixed. It may be a possible reopening of an insurance claim I had when I was rear ended back in November. So now I have to take it back to Toyota and have it diagnostically checked and hopefully get it repaired. It is drivable, as long as I don't let the gas get too low! Anyway, enough of my whining.....

My niece was in a dance recital last spring. She was so disappointed when she was chosen to be a penguin. She really wanted to be a ballerina with beautiful dress......not a tap dancing penguin! I have to tell ya.....she made an adorable penguin!

The paper is Sassafrass and some vintage music paper. I have been really into the tulle lately! I just bought more at Michaels the other day.......just add it to my list of obsessions! I also incorporated some feathers! Love 'em!

The title was cut with my Cricut and the lil' penguin was from my Quickutz. I think I may have actually bought this die cut with this page in mind.
Hope all of you have a great weekend!!!! Thanks so much for visiting me!!!

Lil' Bit of Spring....

My mood this week has been really bad.......my van is going to the shop tomorrow for further repairs, Cortney got her genetic test results. They showed nothing. I know that should be a good thing, but I've waited for a diagnosis for almost 14 years! And nada, nothing. So I guess my girl will continue to be a mystery. A tough pill to swallow sometimes. On top of that, I have a co-worker at my job, making life difficult for me......and I simply feel like I need to rewind my life back to the glorious weekend I left behind. Since I can't do that, I am going to go in my craft room and play. Get lost in my papers, embellishments, and photos. That is truly my happy place. And boy, could I use a bit of happy right now! So here is a happy card!

I have a collection of the High Hopes stamps and really do love these sweet images. They are such fun to color! I used Copics and some glitter for the flowers. For the life of me, I can't remember who the paper is by.....It was in a large 12 x 12 pad I had in a drawer. (yea, like THAT helps you! LOL) I added dew drops to the centers of the buttons for an interesting look.

Off to my happy place upstairs......tomorrow is a new day. Let's hope it is a better one...... : )

No Layers Challenge!

If you regularly visit my blog, you will know that I like a lot of "stuff" on my cards! Layers, layers, layers, embellishments, embellishments, embellishments! So when given the challenge in the Crafty Secret's Forum at SCS, to create a card with only ONE layer..........I thought....IMPOSSIBLE! ME?! But I like a challenge as much as the next gal.....so I created this.

I used my Nesties to emboss the square around the image for a bit of depth. The image is by Crafty Secret's and is called, The Story of Me. It was colored using Prismas and Gamsol. I did distress the edges and round the corners. The ribbon is by Papertrey Ink.

I was pretty pleased with the results.....if I do say so myself!
Hoping all of you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Friendship...

It has been a busy couple of days here in the Kovack household. A good busy....the kind that makes me grateful for my sweet family. Sunday was just a great "family" day filled with church, a Sunday dinner, and spending time together. Last night the kids had CCD, homework, and baths. It is the routine of our lives and one I often take for granted. When I take a step back, I am filled with overwhelming love and appreciation. I know these days are fleeting, the kids will be grown, and the wrinkles and gray hairs will arrive! (Ok, maybe they have already started.....a little!) Maybe it is the Lenten season that gets me a bit nostalgic these days.......

But as always......I digress......
On to the card shall we? This card was created using Crafty Secret's Garden Girls set. I colored her in with Prisma Colored Pencils and Gamsol. I added a teeny pearl to her dress. The paper is by SU! and Jenni Bowlin. I had this little metal branch thingy forever and decided to use it on this card!

The circles were cut using my Nesties and then I machine stitched around them.

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday! (Looking at the bright side......at least it isn't Monday!) LOL!

Nostalgic.....

My mom gave me an old box of pictures a few years ago. They were looked at several times, and yet they still sit in a box. I came across these old pics of my dad and my older sister. He was about 20 years old in the picture and of course my sis, just a baby. My Grandparents are in the bottom photos. They have been gone a long time now, but looking at those pictures makes me realize how much I miss them. My Grandma and Grandpa would listen to Polish music, make you wear slippers at ALL times! Make you drink WARM milk, (cold milk I guess was supposed to give you tummy aches.....) 7-up soda and Push-ups were our treats, and a car ride to church in silence while my Grandmother said her Rosary......just a few of the memories I still have......

My dad too was just a baby in these pics....... a new father to a baby girl. 1966. Man, time sure does fly.........

And in case you were wondering......the paper is by my new favorite company.....Graphic 45! They have the best vintage looking paper. The cat pebble is by Prima.

Have a wonderful day!!! (Or at least try to.......since it IS a Monday!) LOL!

Just Wanted to Share....

Sometimes my family laughs at me because when I have a day off, they ask, "What did you do all day?" I guess I should be saying, "Housework!" But instead I say, "What else? scrapped and made cards all day!" Does it matter that there are 6 inches of dust on my coffee tables, or the laundry is as tall as me? Nah! That stuff will always be there........

My MIL, is such a funny lady huh? She knows me like a book.......
Remember the other day, I told you that my husband had a surprise for me? Well last night we went out on our date. He took me to a really nice restaurant that specialized in fish. I had crab legs! They were soooooo good! It is definitely not something I order very often! After wards we saw a musical created by Billy Joel.
It was SO good!! It was so sweet of him to plan this for no particular reason.....I am a lucky gal!!!
Have a good rest of your weekend!!!! : )
