Altered Photo Frame.....

I almost forgot to share this cute lil' altered photo frame of Cortney. I had it saved on my little teeny tiny netbook......when my regular computer was down for the count! I used some KI paper, modged podged it, and sanded the edges a bit. I added some vintage book paper, lace, and a few buttons. I added some glitter to the center of the buttons. The stamped image is by JustRite's Stitched With Love set. I colored it with my Copics.......twice. I cut both images out. The top image I removed the "ruffle" around the heart, so I only had the heart to pop up on a foam square. I added buttons and lots of glitter!

Have I told you lately, how much I LOVE glitter? LOL!

Well, it is Friday....and I have another busy weekend ahead of me. I don't have school on Saturday, so instead I will be cleaning and getting ready for Kyle's 13th birthday party with the family. This will be on Sunday. (A bit delayed since his birthday was the 4th) Saturday night I have a "date" with the hubby........a long much needed date. I am thinking a dinner and a movie.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!!! Would love to hear what your plans are!!!!

My Garden by JustRite!

Happy Thursday to y'all! It has been a crazy busy week in the Kovack household! I think I need to extend my day by a few hours! 24 just isn't enough! LOL! I am getting closer to finishing my project for my grad class. My presentation is on the 27th and then I can breath a big sigh of relief!!! So unfortunately, my crafting time has been replaced with school stuff! Boo hoo! Anyway, I have a JustRite card to share that I made a few weeks ago and never posted. It uses the new My Garden set. I colored the Sweet Pea image with my Copics. I stamped the border on a separate piece of paper and cut both out with my Spellbinders. The vintage book tag is by 7 Gypsies. I added a Papertrey satin ribbon and a vintage button. I stamped the sentiment on a jewelry tag.

Kind of liking these bright colors! A bit of a deviation for me!

Hope you have a wonderful day!!! Leave me some lovin' today will ya?! I would love to "hear" from you! : )

Thoughts of Spring.....

I have to admit that I am tired of winter. Not just a little tired of winter.......A LOT of tired of it! It has overstayed its welcome......and I want spring to arrive! I can't wait until the temperatures get warmer, the birds start chirping, and the flowers begin to poke out of the ground. So today's LO uses a soft, pretty, pastel palette that is very "springy!"

I found this old picture of Cort and I and knew I wanted to do something special with it. I so miss those chubby cheeks and those dimpled hands and elbows. Those baby blues just make me swoon! I used Noel Mignon's Seaside Cottage kit. It has the most beautiful papers and embellishments! I did some machine stitching for contrast and inked the edges of my papers with black.
Included in the kit are some pretty fabric swatches. I used my Spellbinder's butterfly die on this striped fabric. I added stick pin antennae and a Prima flower to its body.

Kyle got his bottom braces on yesterday......poor kid has a sore mouth! And tonight....I will be working on my project for my grad class. It is the only way to get things done.....leave the house! No kids, no husband....no laundry......you get the idea! Wish me luck.....the project is due next Saturday....I am praying I finish by then! : )

Crafty Secret's Color Challenge!

The gals at Crafty Secrets are going to show you various ways of adding color to your images! The girls are going to give you some step-by-step instructions on how to use different mediums. My medium of choice today is using my Copics. I placed all the instructions on my pictures and then realized they may be difficult to read.......so I will just write them again here. : ) I used this beautiful image from the Seasonal Friends set.

I always pick out my papers and embellishments first. I think it is easier to color your image accordingly, rather than the other way around.

When I use Copics, I find that Momento Ink works best. Just my opinion of course! I tend to pick 3 shades of one color. A light, medium, and dark shade.

I outline the perimeter in the lightest shade, then go back over it with the darkest shade. Why you ask? Placing the lightest shade down first will allow the darker shade to "move."

Take your medium shade and pull the dark color towards the center of the image. But be sure to leave the center untouched. Take your lightest color and finish dragging the darker colors in towards the center. If you want the center even lighter, use the blending pen to take away some of the color.

Sometimes, I will go back and add a bit of darker pink to the corners and "shadows." Then drag it out again with the medium or light color.

Add your touches of green to the leaves......since the area is so small I don't worry too much about blending.

I colored her skin and added a bit of pink to her cheeks and created shadows under her chin and neck.

For the sun, I did the same technique as her dress. I outline the sun with the lightest yellow, go back over it with the darkest yellow, use the medium yellow to "drag" the colors towards the center. Then finish dragging the colors with the lightest shade of yellow.

Again.......I chose 3 shades of blue for the cloud......light, dark, medium.......

I used 3 shades of brown for the dirt........

2 shades for the grass........

Here is a cool technique to add texture to the dirt and grass........grab a bottle of blending solution and an old rag.

Pour a bit of the blending solution onto the rag........and dab the grass and dirt......

Cool eh?

I added some Stickles to the flowers for extra texture and glitz........

I hope that made sense! If not, feel free to e-mail me...... : ) I am by no means an expert, and I know many people color in different ways......it's just this way has worked well for me!

Be sure to check the other tutorials and projects from the design team!
Have a WONDERFUL MONDAY!!!!

Caardvark's Wedding Card Challenge!

This week Caardvarks is being sponsored by Scrapbook Trends CARDS Magazine. They are looking for wedding cards to publish in their July 2010 issue! They will pick one card to be published. So without further ado here is my card submission.........

I used JustRite's wedding stamp set. I used a Tattered Angels chipboard piece. I inked the edges, sprayed it with tattered rose Glimmer Mist, and added chunky glitter. I stamped the image with Versamark and embossed it in gold. I stamped the sentiment on cream card stock and cut it out with Spellbinders. While the die was still in place, I used my Copic airbrush to give it a hint of color. I added a tiny Making Memories heart to the center of the rings. It is a bit hard to see in the photo, but I also added teeny rhinestones to the little "stars" by the sentiment. The paper is Papertrey Ink and vintage music paper. I added stitching to the perimeter of the card. I also added the heart doily to "ground" the image.

My final touches were a satin ribbon, Prima flower, and Maya Road stick pin.
Well......I am off to the American Girl Store today with Cort. We are meeting her friends and their moms. We have lunch and then shop for her "baby, " Gloria. It is always a fun day with friends! Have a wonderful Sunday and Valentine's Da!!!
