Soft Poofy Cupcake! : )

When I saw the shaped cupcake card by Cutting Cafe', I had this idea to make the top of the cupcake soft and "poofy." (Yes, that is the technical word for it!) I have all these beautiful pieces of felt from Papertrey ink and decided on Hibiscus. I printed off the top of the cupcake on printer paper, cut it out, and pinned in to the felt and cut two pieces out with good fabric scissors. I chose the blanket stitch in white thread. When I was almost done stitching it up I shoved cotton balls in side to give it its "poof." Then I finished with my stitching. I adhered it to the top of the "paper" cupcake using tacky glue. I added a Jennin Bowlin heart, silk ribbon, crocheted flower, and a candle to the top of my candle. Seed beads were added as well. The Designer paper is by Cosmo Cricket, deLovely line. That was also hand stitched using a straight stitch.

I have a very busy weekend and week ahead of me. Tonight is a birthday celebration with a few of my scrappy friends, tomorrow is my American Cancer Relay for Life walk, then on Sunday we are taking Kyle to camp. He will be gone a whole week! Next week I will be at CHA everyday. Not complaining though.....it is all good! Excited and a bit nervous! Have a great weekend! And thank you so much for stopping by!!!

Birthday Girl & Birthday Boy

Good morning and happy Thursday! I can't believe how busy this summer has been.....no lazy, hazy days of summer in this house! I am getting samples ready for CHA and a few other things I have in the fire so to speak, that I can't mention yet. (But it is pretty darn exciting!) Hopefully, I can share it next week with you! : )

I had two birthdays last week, one for my niece and the other for my step-dad. I decided, since I am tight for time these days, to make two cards that were identical except for the colors. It definitely makes the process a little easier! I used Papertrey's Enjoy the Ride set. They were stamped in Hibisicus and Hawaiian Shores. I colored the windshields with my Copic, C1 marker to give it a bit of depth. Then it was covered with Crystal Effects. I added pearls to the headlights. Papers are by Papertrey Ink and Cosmo Cricket. (Delovely line). I also used Spellbinder's Small Circles and Large Scalloped Octagons to create the background for the car to sit on. I also used a birthday Cuttle bug folder.

I finished it off with some white satin ribbon and some stick pins....... : )

Anyone else going to CHA this year? I would love to meet you! I will be at JustRite, Crafty Secrets, and Provo Craft's booths this year!

No Designer Paper Challenge!

Good morning! This week's challenge over at the Noel Mignon Challenge blog, is no use of Designer paper.....of any kind! Rub ons, vellum, and Hambly are OK........but no patterned paper!
It definitely was a challenge, since usually I love layers and layers.....but that's why they call it a challenge right? I used the Sun-Kissed and Lemonade Stand kits. The background is a Hambly transparency, the butterfly is a Jenni Bowlin rub on, and I added a few, stickers and buttons. The little fence was from Hobby Lobby in their wooden crafty section....and knew I could use it somehow on a future LO! I added several Thickers to spell out my niece's name...since several of my letters were missing!
The letters were outlined in black Sharpie to give them a bit of pop!
I love the look of this great big butterfly! I am a bit butterfly obsessed these days anyway!

Head on over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the DT's fabulous LO's! We hope you can join us in the, "No Designer Paper's Challenge!" (You can win a prize!) Don't forget to pick up the newest kit, "Office Party." There are only 8 left! : )

And just a quickie update......my air conditioning in my hunk of junk van was fixed. Apparently, it was low on Freon and was checked for leaks. There were none......so they filled it back up and so far......so good! My bathroom tub is out and the new handicapped accessible shower is in! I've cleaned and put everything back and Cortney tried it out for the first time yesterday......ding, ding! I think we have a winner! : ) And a lot less stress on my back! The family and I went away for 3 days last week to French Lick, Indiana for a mini vacation and had a really good time. There is something about going away that helps us to reconnect. We swam, played golf, went horseback riding, took a historical train ride, ate out a lot, and took nature walks on their beautiful garden paths. So needless to say.....life has been busy! But it's all good!

Crafty Secret's New Product Blog Hop!

Today is the day for Crafty Secret's new product blog hop! One of my favorite products by Crafty Secret's are the Creative Scraps. The images are so detailed and beautiful! And now, they are double sided! Which I love, because I am all about versatility and options! I found these cheap little wooden frames at Hobby Lobby for a buck a piece and knew that they would be cute to alter. I painted this frame with Tim Holtz white crackle paint and while it was wet, I sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds. The edges were distressed with a bit of ink. Using my glue gun I added some Spanish moss and some Prima Flowers. I just slipped the Birds & Blossoms Creative Scrap behind the frame, added some seam binding to create a hanger.....and voila! A cute little wall hanging done in about a half an hour! Fast by "Michele Kovack" standards! LOL!

Be sure to head on over to the other DT blogs for more fabulous projects!
