Scrap Your Crap!

My good friend, Simone, over at Daily Dose of Spazz has started a new blog with another fun scrapper/blogger, Greta! It is called Scrap Your Crap!

Every week the girls post some challenge.....this week it is called, "Get Felt Up!" (It's not what you think! LOL!) You were to use 3 pieces of felt in your LO. I had this picture of my niece and wanted to create an 8 x 8 LO. I used paper by Making Memories. I cut her name out with my ancient Sizzix machine. I added pieces of vintage ribbon, sequins, buttons, and Doodlebug flowers.

Check out her site if your looking for some fun challenges!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Reason to Smile

I really need to participate in more challenges! I think this is the fastest card I've ever made! It only took me 45 minutes! Which for me is fast! I am one of those 4 hour card people! LOL! This was for the technique challenge a few weeks ago on SCS. I would never have thought to ink up the inside of my Cuttlebug folder. I used Tri-colored Brilliance ink. I used that as my background paper. Then I used 2 colors of chalk inks and daubers to ink up the butterfly. (Thanks again Kivonne!) The other paper is by Memory Box. I did some machine stitching, added some Prima flowers, and a pretty silk ribbon.

On a personal note.....got a call from Misericordia yesterday. They want to set up an interview with Brian, myself, and Cortney. They feel she would be a good match for Misericordia. If the interview goes well, then the next step is Cort would stay there for a few days to see if it is a good fit. What does that mean? It means if she IS a good fit, they will officially put her on the wait list. This means she could get in in 5 months or 6 years, or 10 years. It is hard to say when an opening will become available. My emotions are so mixed up right now! I really want this for her, but I think the reality of it just kind of hit me right between the eyes! She is such a Mama's girl. I was thinking about the craziest things....like who is going to brush her teeth like me? Who is going to read her favorite books to her at night? Who will fix her hair everyday? Just writing this breaks my heart. I know no one can take care of her like me......but I know the reality is, I will have to let go at some point. For now, I pray they feel she is good fit, and an opening opens up in about 10 more years! (She is almost 13 now.)

Inchies!

I have to admit....I am a sucker for anything small! Maybe that's why I work with little people! (I am a teacher!) So I had to buy all the small stamps and chipboard to make these tiny little things! Both stamps are Lockhart stamps that I purchased from Ellen Hutson's store. The word Spring was stamped with Karen Foster's snap stamps. The background paper was "Cuttlebugged" with the new Swiss Dots folder.
Both images were colored in using Copics. I did use Crystal Effects for the "froth." I also used pins as teeny tiny brads. The picture makes them look so big......but of course they are so little IRL!
I have some exciting news to share......first off....I am becoming a permanent member of Treehouse Stamps DT! Ashley and Kristin are the sweetest ladies! They are so fun to work with! Thanks ladies!
Secondly.....I am FINALLY getting published!!! One of my creations got picked up by Cardtrends for their August/Sept. issue. I know many of you have been pubbed before, but I was a publishing Virgin! LOL! So needless to say, I am pretty excited!
And last but not least.....One of the SCS ladies just got a blog of her own. Some of you may know her from her SCS name....Stamps4Sanity. Her name is Joanne. She is super talented and so sweet! She was my SU! demonstrator for a very long time and then we became friends. So maybe, you could pay her a visit to her blog, My Adventures in Cardmaking, and say hi!
Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Another Attempt at Soldering!

I am definitely NOT an expert at soldering! There is a learning curve with this whole thing! I have been having trouble with the jump rings and such. I had my son hold the jump ring so I could touch the area around it with the soldering gun. All he kept saying to me was, "Please, don't burn me, please don't burn me!" Of course I was EXTRA careful! I can't quite get it as smooth as I'd like.....but I guess with practice I will get better.....I hope! I have one of those metal trees in my living room that you hang small photo frames on....so this is where this one is going!

Well, my washing machine is finally fixed! And only at the small price of $193.00! (Insert sarcasm there!) Guess this means I need to do laundry!

Home Sweet Home

This is one of Sweet n' Sassy's newest releases! I love this new set! I colored the house in with my Copics. The paper is by Memory Box. I folded a Prima flower in half and added a button, vintage lace, and stick pin. I also machine stitched around the perimeter of the card to give it a "homey" feel.

Can I ask......How many dang appliances can break in one month? Apparently 5! In the last 3 weeks, I've had to repair my dryer, ice maker in fridge, furnace, hot water tank, and tonight it was my washing machine! UGH! AND I have a MAYTAG! It's supposed to be a great machine right? Well, the repairman couldn't fix it because he didn't have the part needed! I haven't been able to do laundry now for 5 days! Do you know how much laundry piles up in 5 DAYS?! I will be doing laundry nonstop once it gets fixed! OK, enough venting!

My Last Day as Guest Designer....

Well today marks my last day as Guest Designer for Crafty Secrets as well as Treehouse Stamps. I've had a lot of fun working with all of their wonderful products! I will probably continue to post all week, because I made so many projects and haven't been able to show all of them yet! This stamp is by Crafty Secrets. I colored it in with my Copics. I "sugared" the top of the cake as well as the shadows. The large circle and scallop are actually note cards I bought from Archivers. I covered them with my Basic Grey paper and trimmed. The smaller scallop and circle were cut with my Spellbinder's Nestabilities. I punched 2 holes and threaded my ribbon at the top. I added pearls to the centers of the buttons.

Well, back to work today........but at least I got all my papers graded yesterday! Just need to get my report cards finished!

Have a great day!

Finally.....a scrapbook page!!!

I finally created a LO with my adorable nephew. My hubby was getting him to laugh by pretending to burn his lip with his coffee! I guess he liked that my hubby was in pain! LOL! I printed these pics at home, so they are all connected. I actually watercolored this paper with my Twinkling H2O's. I also painted the chipboard word, laugh. Used a few odds and ends, and it was a done deal!

Just a quick post, as I have like 8,000 papers to grade! Ok, a slight exaggeration......
Yes, I know I've had allllllll week to grade them.......
And, I have report cards to complete.........
Yes, again, I know I've had allllllll week to complete them.........

Back to reality tomorrow!
