You're Sweet

My son turns 15 tomorrow. I never thought I would have those twinges of pain in my heart over him growing up........but I do. I know logically that growing up is a normal part of life. It is was kids are supposed to do. But turning 15 means more independence......less "mom" time, and more secrets. I never thought I'd have the kid who would crank up the music, and close the door to keep me out of his room. Don't get me wrong, he is a good kid with a good heart......it's just his way of finding himself, finding where he fits in.  I am trying to be a good mom and give him that space to spread his wings, while still keeping an eye on him, letting him know that I am still there whenever he needs me.  It's a difficult balance to strike.....but I am trying.

I have been making a few Valentine treats for co-workers and a few other sweeties in my life.  I love the tubes by SRM and they make it easy to give sweets to that special someone.  I filled mine with Hershey Kisses......because who doesn't like Hershey Kisses? ; )  I covered it with paper by Pink Paislee and a heart shaped doily.  Using my Cricut I used the new CCR, Valentine Sentiments to create my "box of chocolate." I used all of the layers and stacked them using dimensional foam circles.

I wanted the chocolates to stand out a bit, so I added glossy accents to them and sprinkled them with silver beads. I tied the "box of chocolates" to the tubes with twine, tulle, and seam binding.
As always, thank you for popping by.......your visits and comments mean so much to me. Have a wonderful Friday!

Cupcake

There is something about cupcakes that I love. Maybe it's their size or just because they are so dang cute! Whatever it is, it is right up there for me with glitter, doilies, and anything vintage! ; ) I created this sweet thing last year for the Cricut Circle. I used Provo Craft's Yudu Cardshop.  It's a nifty little gadget that makes such cute cards in a snap! I used white paint and added glossy accents and glitter to the top.  I made the top twice so I could sandwich a piece of doily in between the layers and let a bit of it peek out!  I tied twine and a button to dress it up!  I added the sentiment and ran it along the bottom of my cupcake, securing it with teeny brads.

I will be back tomorrow with a Valentine's post! : )  Today is Thursday.....one day closer to Friday!!!  : D (Not that I'm excited or anything!)

Valentine's Jar

Do you ever get an idea and just have to run with it? I do. Sometimes inspiration strikes me at the oddest times and once the seed is planted in my head, I have to do something about it! I have been on an "altering glass bottles kick" lately!  I decided that making a Valentine bottle was absolutely necessary!  (To see my other altered bottles click HERE and HERE!) I used red alcohol ink and a bit of gold all over the bottle and lid.  I adhered blue lace around the top of the bottle and tied seam binding, twine, and some polka dotted tulle.
I created a "puffy" heart with felt and Spellbinder's heart dies.  I used a blanket stitch around the perimeter in red thread and stuffed it right before closing it with a bit of batting.  The flower was cut with a Sizzix die and cream felt.  I glued it on an angle so it looked like it was dangling right from the bow I had created. I rubbed the stick pins with a bit glossy accents and glittered up those babies too! ; )
......and yes.....I did glitter the felt puffy heart........I just couldn't resist!
.....and a bit of glitter at the bottom of the glass too........
Don't forget today is the last day to enter my giveaway HERE!  I will pick a winner tonight at 10 PM.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Valentines Day

It is hard to believe that we are in the final days of January. Valentine's Day is just around the corner! I love the pinks, reds, and creams of Valentine colors......I get completely sucked in! This card was created using my Cricut Expression and the 3 Birds on Parade-Life's a Party cartridge.  The heart was glittered along the perimeter and a scalloped piece and lace were added to the center.  I had a zillion hearts cut from another project and didn't have the "heart"  (no pun intended! LOL!) to throw them away, so I used 3 here.  The hearts were inked, glittered and tied with twine and seam binding.  I adhered them to the front of the card with dimensional foam circles.
The princess tag came from a piece of designer paper, which at the moment escapes me....
Don't forget that my drawing for the blog candy for the "Cards for Kids Blog Hop," will take place on Feb. 1st.  Be sure to go HERE to enter! : )
Have a WONDERFUL day!
