Paper Loft...

Good morning my crafty peeps!  I am so glad it is Friday!  We are celebrating our last installment of Kyle's 16th birthday.....with movie, dinner, and laser tag tomorrow night.  I think the "old" people are gonna whoop some teenage butt!  (Hopefully, I don't end up in traction!) ; )

I have a card today that uses papers from the fabulous Paper Loft Company.  The card base was cut using Spellbinder's dies, and the flower was cut using my Cricut. I added a bit of glitter to the edges of the flower.
I have been buying twine in all sorts of colors and I just loved this bright green.  I decided to use it as my accent color to go with my leaves.

Thank you too, for all of your kind words regarding Cort.  She did go to the GI doc and he did some blood work.  He is testing her for a few things that could affect her GI tract.  In the meantime, he changed her meds a bit, and now we have to wait and see what the effect will be.
There were no tears last night, as she seemed to rest comfortably.  No tears is always a good sign. :)
Have a great weekend!
I will have some VERY exciting news next week!
Stay tuned! :D

Is it "Sweet" Sixteen if You're a Boy?

Okay, I'm going to tell you upfront that I was told by my son, immediately when he viewed his card, that it was too "girly." Now in my defense, I did pick a frog.  My son was obsessed with frogs growing up.  His favorite stuffed animal was a frog.  He currently has a pet frog.  Maybe it was the polka dot ribbon that put him over the edge?  It certainly can not be my "manly" frog!  ;)  And look at that very long fly catching tongue!  A tongue only a boy could appreciate right?  (Work with me people!)
Maybe I should have added a fly for this guy to eat.  And I suppose the polka dot ribbon was a bit too much. Maybe I'll get it right when he turns 17. ;)
And here once again is my card critic.  The frog loving boy who just turned "Sweet Sixteen."  Oh wait, I think that is just for a girl right?  What do they call it when a boy turns 16?
Have a great day!

There's No Place Like Home

That saying is so true isn't it?  I have been fortunate enough to live in the same house now for the past 21 years.  It was the house my husband and I purchased right before getting married, fresh out of college.  It is the place where our babies were born, our memories are created, where we laugh, dance and act crazy, and shed those occasional tears.  For me, my house is my safe haven, my refuge from the outside.

I created this house shaped card for Cricut Magazine about a year and a half ago.  I can't even remember which issue it was.  I do know that I used Kate's ABC's.  I added lots of details.....glitter, flowers, ribbon, a tag, and 3D flower boxes.
It would be a perfect card for a new home buyer.  It is such a monumental event, why not celebrate it?
Cortney and I are off to the doctor's again today.  My poor dolly has been in pain again, and she had many tears last night.  I am not sure what solutions the doctor can offer us, but I am hoping he has something.  She missed cheer leading last night, and she was so upset not to see her friends.
It breaks my heart to see her hurt.  To see her little self trapped in a body that just won't cooperate with her. I can see her anguish, her frustration.
It is often a reminder of the long road she has traveled. The long journey ahead of her.

I am off and running this morning....
Have a great day my friends!
XOXO

Crafty Secrets DT Post, Linky Party, and Birthday Celebration!

Good morning to you my crafty friends!  Today is a special day! It is Crafty Secret's Monthly DT Challenge and Linky Party.  It is also my baby's 16th birthday!  : )
First, let me share with you the project I created using a SU! die and gorgeous vintage papers from Crafty Secret's Digital CD. The envelope image is a digital stamp from the Heart to Heart set.

I colored the image with my Copics and did a bit of fussy cutting.
I added a bit of paper trim by Melissa Frances, and flowers that were created with dies.  It is a perfect little treat box to fill for that special someone.
Be sure to visit the other designers' blogs! They are so stinking creative!

It is hard to believe that my baby turns 16 today.  I can still remember every moment with him. He is full of personality and has such a caring heart.  He has had his share of struggles, but I think in the long run, it will make him a better, more sensitive person.  He was such a cutie as a little guy, and has turned into a handsome young man. I am blessed to have been given this life to care for. He has taught me much, and I am so glad to be his mama.
Happy birthday Kyle!!!
Love you.
