Scrap & Stamp's Friendship Challenge!

Scrap & Stamp's challenge this week is to create a friendship theme, and the sponsor this week is Lizzie Anne Stamps!!! If you want to play along, you have a chance of winning an adorable Lizzie Anne Stamp set! In addition to that we have our very first GDT member......Rose Anne Reynolds of Paper Delightz! (What a rock star she is! And a sweetie to boot!) And the last bit of news? Scrap & Stamp has decided to do weekly challenges! This means more blog candy and more fun! Woot woot!

Now on to my friendship LO! Remember THIS picture? I altered it a bit in Photoshop using a Chocolate Black & White action. (Learned this in Michelle Lanning's Photo Editing Cheats class!) I love how it turned into such a warm black and white photo. The girls suits and background were a bit distracting before! I used Noel's Five Foot Two kit (sold out) for most of this LO. The butterflies are by Sweet 'n Sassy (In His Time set) . I stamped those on a newsprint transparency with Staz on. Then I cut the butterflies out with good scissors and folded their wings up. I then added some itty bitty rhinestones to their bodies. The flowers were homemade. I got the directions from a Martha Stewart magazine. The directions will be found HERE tomorrow. (Sunday, August 2). They were easy to make and I love how they added just a little somethin' somethin!

Love these gorgeous butterflies!

Gotta love Martha Stewart!

I hope you can find time to play along this week! : )

Crafty Secrets and Blog Candy Winner!

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a hard time remembering where I post stuff. I am praying I didn't post this card here, only at SCS. If I did......then go ahead and head off to someone else's blog! LOL! Does anyone else have trouble? OR is it just me?

Well if you've decided to humor me and stay through this post......then let me give you the deets on this card. I used Crafty Secret's Sew Special set. I colored the image twice with Copics, and placed pop dots between the layers for some dimension. I was given some old patterns for sewing and decided to incorporate that into my background.

The tissue paper is fairly thin so I glued the edges to a piece of card stock and then sewed that to the black card stock. I added some black tulle to her skirt along with a ribbon and rhinestone. To create the skirt, I cut a piece of rectangular tulle, folded it over and did a loose straight stitch. When you get to the end, you pull the thread until it is gathered to the waist size you need. I wanted to add a sentiment but didn't want to cover up the background so I opted for a simple tag "grounded" on a red piece of ribbon.
Now for the blog candy winner............

Kyle picked # 42 ..... CREATIVE MOMMA!!
She said:
Lovely card... I love the printed paper and sentiment :)
Thanks so much everyone for playing! Hope you have a fantastic Friday! I am off to get a desperately needed haircut!

2 Sketches 4 You!

JustRite is sponsoring 2 Sketches 4 You this week and I was so excited to play along! Kazan and Laura have the best card sketches! I used JustRite's newest set called Autumn Blessings. I colored the image in with my Copics. The image was cut out using my Spellbinder's Nestibilities. I distressed the edges with a sponge and Tim Holtz Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap. The DP is by SU! I also added a felt flower and Papertrey button to dress it up a bit.

If you would like a chance to win a $100.00 gift certificate to JustRite, create a card using Laura's sketch and head on over HERE!
Don't forget to enter your name for my blog candy........the drawing will be held later tonight!

Sympathy, Braces, & Blog Candy!

Kind of a hodge podge post today...... : )
I am starting with a sympathy card I made a couple of months ago and never posted. Cortney's Occupational therapist's father passed away, so I made this card for her using SU!'s, From the Garden set. I embossed the image in gold and then tried my hand at watercoloring. This is definitely a medium I need to improve on! I added some pearls to the center and used the Spellbinder's tags for the sentiment. I did airbrush it a little to give the tag a bit of color. The gold cording is also from SU!

Kyle got his braces on the other day......so here is my official "teenager!" He is already claiming that he can tell his teeth are moving............yea, ok.

Don't forget to put your name in the "hat" for my blog candy! I think I forgot to mention when I would pull a name.......how about Thursday night? Let's say around 9 PM? Work for you? : ) Alrighty then!
Off to tackle the piles of laundry in my basement........*sigh*

A Blog Hop & Blog Candy!

It's that time of the month again.....for the BBTB blog hop! This week's design was to use the "couple" cut from the Going Places cartridge. I decided to create an anniversary/wedding card with it. I used vintage book paper for the couple and distressed their edges with black ink. The paper is SU! and Basic Grey. I added a few pops of red for interest with the heart and brads. I used a part of the sentiment from the JustRite Something Sweet Set. (Not yet released because it is actually a Christmas set) I used two different circular Nesties to cut it out. I cut the ends to look like a banner. I couldn't get my sewing machine to actually sew on the card ( I think something to do with the tension), so I just used it to pierce the card stock.

I am giving a few summer treats away to one lucky winner. This is what you will get:

What do you have to do? Just leave a comment for me! If you want a second chance to win, become a follower or a subscriber to my blog and I will put your name in the "hat" twice! : )
Off to the next DT member.........Susan Edwards!!!

Birthday Party JustRite Style!

I am finally posting the goody bags and such from Cort's birthday pool party! I was completely inspired by Michelle Wooderson's altered clothespins and bags idea! What a great way to give out party favors. I used JustRite's Friendship set. But I have to tell you a lil' secret........I didn't color all 10 cakes for the favors.......I took the one I colored to KinKo's and color copied the rest of 'em! (I know a bit lazy, but what can I say!?) I took them home, stamped the outside border separately and layered them using my Nesties. I covered the clothespins with K & Company paper and some Papertrey buttons. The bags are filled with various girly/Hannah Montanna stuff. (lip gloss, nail file, stickers, etc.).

I also gave the kids a little container of M & M's. At Michaels a few weeks ago they had bags of M & M's in really pretty colors that you could buy separately.....how cool is that? So I bought hot pink and turquoise.......ya know, to stick with the color scheme! Then I NEEDED to create a cute container to put 'em in! I used JustRite's What Cookin? set.

Here are a few pics from Cort's party. : ) Of course we HAD to have a Hannah Montana cake......I think Jewel spelled her name with a u at first......do you see the lovely yellow smudge under the o?
Here is a picture of the group.....missing three. Two of her friends left early, one couldn't make it......which was unfortunate because it was Cort's "boyfriend." His name is Jimmy and Cort affectionately calls him, "Jimbo." They have been in school together since they were 3 and they are just the cutest things together. He is in a wheelchair too and they will reach and stretch just so they can hold hands....,,, : )
When I see the girls together, and the moms chatting and having a good time, I really take a step back and truly "see" how lucky I really am. Not many people have their very own support group at their fingertips. Not many kids have loyal friends who love you unconditionally. And these girls do.......... The pics aren't beautiful in the fact that everyone is wearing their best or have their hair done......quite the contrary, but what is beautiful is their inner beauty. I love them all.......

And of course my girl...............Love her best.........

********************************
I am off to my Grandma and Grandfather's today. I made them a pan of lasagna since neither of them really cooks anymore. (89 & 80 years old....) My Grandfather asked if I could take photos of their dog.....so I am bringing the ole' camera today!
This weekend I will be participating in Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. I've never done this before, so I am really looking forward to it!
And this is why I haven't been blog hopping much these days.....so I apologize! I will come visit everyone next week, I promise!!!

Crafty Secret's New Postcard Kits!

Crafty Secrets has done it again! Sandy has come out with these new adorable postcard kits! The design team has been creating with these like crazy this past week. Head on over to the CS blog to check out some of the samples! I decided to make a baby wall hanging. I love this sweet baby girl! I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Antique Linen and then with Frayed Burlap to darken it up a bit. I had these pretty beads from the days when I thought maybe I wanted to make jewelry. (Then realized there ARE only 24 hours in a day.....LOL!) I strung them on waxy floss and tied it. I threaded the crystal buttons and glued them to the front. I tied some vintage lace and added this little pink stick pin.

For the back of the postcard I inked it up as well and then stamped the images in the 2 inks. (The stamps are part of the postcard kits!!!)

Crafty Secrets is doing 2 giveaways, The first is for for all 4 Vintage Postcard Kits! The second draw will be for both of our new Thanksgiving and Mouse Party Stamp sets! Just leave a comment here on this blog post for your chance to win!!! Good luck!
Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit!!!
