Recipe Addict!

Had a great day with my 5th graders yesterday! Spring has FINALLY arrived here in Chicago! IT was sunny and in the mid 60's! After walking and being outside all day, coming back to school, playing SPUD with a few students after school (Part of a mentoring program we are doing), going to Yoga with Cort.........it was an exhausting day! But a GOOD exhausted.

Anyway, on to my crafty project here. I don't know about any of you, but in our household we collect recipes. Ya know books, magazines, clipped recipes from family and friends?! I have an entire cabinet filled with books and papers. My husband is just as bad. EVERY single time he makes a run to the store he comes home with one of those mini recipe books you see at the check out. He comes in like a proud little kid with his new cooking magazine! We also get those Kraft Food magazines every couple of months. You'd swear we were gourmet cooks here. I decided that enough was enough! All those misc. papers and clippings need to be in one spot where I can find them. I ordered this recipe box from Papertrey Ink. I covered it with papers from Crafty Secret's Radiant Pad.

The handle of the box is actually a toy rolling pin that I picked up at Michaels. (Cute right?) I used rub ons to title it. For the top I added a Melissa Frances glittered heart that was sprayed with walnut ink to "dirty" it up a bit. There are various ribbons, buttons, and the circle was stamped with Crafty Secret's So Sweet set, and the Desk/Library/Kitchen set from Just Rite.
At first, I was going to type all of the recipes, but decided that it really wasn't realistic of me. So as much as I hate my handwriting, I decided it would be easier for me to do! I want to be able to add to my box as I need it. I did take strips of Graphic 45 paper to dress up the recipe a bit.

For each of the dividers I used Just Rite's newest set called, Recipe Borders and Centers. For some of them I added a Lockhart image that had been colored and cut out. (Love those lil' radishes!)

So at least now I can channel my addiction into one little box instead of loose all over the kitchen!
What are we having for dinner tonight you ask?
PIZZA! LOL!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!!!!! : )

love this project and how you put the DP onto each card. Recently I too created a great recipe box for my daughter, however, actually filling out the recipe cards overwhelmed me since I just make up my recipes as I go along. Guess I could give them too her blank and she can make up her own. Unfortunately she wouldn't have "mom's favorite recipes"

I love your recipe box! I would be terrified to get it splashed with sauce or oil! Great job!:)
