I Can Count on You....

Created by Michele Kovack
I am sharing a new set from Justrite today called, Doodled Birds.  The sentiment seems as fitting as yesterday's.  I can tell you how much I appreciate everyone's support.  Your e-mails, comments, and private messages have really been appreciated.  :)  I can count on you to make me feel better!
This card was stamped in Tim Holtz grey ink.  I was going for the "no line" water coloring technique.  I think I still need to practice this! LOL!
I sponged a bit of yellow in the corner for a bit of sunshine and stamped the sentiment in black.  I also added a few sequin flowers and a stenciled background.

I can't seem to get away with no ribbon on my cards....so true to Kovack style I added one!
I twisted it a bit before using a DODZ™ Small
 to secure it.

It's Friday and I am going to keep busy this weekend.  If I have down time, that's when my emotions get the better of me.
According to staff, Cort is adjusting well and making new friends.
They went on their first outing yesterday to the movie theater. They saw "Zoolander."  I know it will be all good....someday....when my heart adjusts.
For now, I will just keep busy.

A Little Bit of Spring.....

Good morning! I am up on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog today with a card all decked out for spring!

I think maybe, subconsciously, I created this card with Cortney in mind.
 Bloom and Grow.
She spread her wings and left the nest yesterday.
Words can not describe the loss I feel right now. I know she is going to do great. She will thrive and make lots of new friends......bloom and grow. But for this mama, it is hard. bloom and grow
And no, it is not the same as sending Kyle off to college as many of my friends and family have tried to compare this to.   I think teens in general start gradually leaving the "nest" with their independent attitudes.  Taking Cortney yesterday was like ripping off a band aid.  There was never any middle ground with her.  I went from taking care of her every need to suddenly having nothing to take care of.
bloom and grow close
And I know in my heart we are blessed with this opportunity for her.  It is something that I know will be great for her.  I just have to find a way to adjust and fill my time with other things.  Which I will. With time.
bloom and grow 2
So maybe it's not just Cortney that needs to Bloom and Grow....maybe it's this gal right here.
bloom and grow3

Have a wonderful day!
(And thank you all for your words of encouragement and kindness.  I truly appreciate the support!)

Changes are Difficult.....

This is Cortney's last day being at home. Tomorrow she starts a new chapter in her life at a wonderful place called, Misericordia.  It was a decision we made about 6 years ago, and not a decision we made lightly.  We did our homework. We did our research. We knew the wait list was long, but when you want the best for your child, you are willing to wait.  We volunteered for years, met people, built relationships. We got the call last October and we couldn't have been happier.  This meant a nurturing place for Cortney.  A place where she will be cared for, loved, stimulated, surrounded by her peers. This is a place that gives every single resident a job.  She will wake up with a purpose each morning.  And yes, my heart is broken right now.  She has been my side kick, my shadow, my love, for the last 21 years.  I have taken care of her every need and loved her with all of my heart.   But I know that when Cort is home on the weekends, she gets bored easily.  She is restless, and constantly asks to go to school.  She longs to be with her friends all of the time.  Misericordia will become her "new school."  They will provide therapy, swimming, bowling, a job, picnics, dances, dinners, peer interaction, movies, and a host of other things.  It is time she spread her wings, spread her smile and her joy.  She needs to move on, just as my college son did.  She is entitled to some independence and to create a life outside of her mama.
As Sister Rosemary said at our Misericordia meeting a few weeks ago, "We are not taking your child from you.....we are sharing your child with you."

The lyrics from this song were perfect.....

Here I am waiting

I'll have to leave soon

Why am I holding on?

We knew this day would come

We knew it all along

How did it come so fast?

This is our last night but it's late

And I'm trying not to sleep

Cause I know, when I wake, I will have to slip away

And when the daylight comes I'll have to go

But tonight I'm gonna hold you so close

Cause in the daylight we'll be on our own

But tonight I need to hold you so close

Here I am waiting

I'll have to leave soon

Why am I holding on?

We knew this day would come

We knew it all along

How did it come so fast?

This is our last night but it's late

And I'm trying not to sleep

Cause I know, when I wake, I will have to slip away

And when the daylight comes I'll have to go

But tonight I'm gonna hold you so close

Cause in the daylight we'll be on our own

But tonight I need to hold you so close

Hello...

Created by Michele Kovack
Good morning and happy Sunday to you!
I have a Justrite card to share with you using some fun new products. I sponged Tim Holtz inks to a panel of white card stock in shades of purple, blue and pink.
I  then stamped Justrite's Floral Silhouettes in black.   I went over the stamped image with Tonic Studio's glitter drops for added dimension.  I framed the image with Justrite's Four in a Square die.  I inked it in shades of pink and blue. I added more of Tonic Studios's glitter drops to give it some sparkle.

For my finishing touch I added pretty silk ribbon, twine, and a little tag with a sentiment.
I am off to do some packing for Cort and then take her out to lunch.
I am trying to keep busy.....
Thank you for stopping by!

Take Three! And a Recap!

Created by Michele Kovack
Good morning!
I have my last card to share with you that uses the same layout, same dies, and same Silhouette cut.
Yesterday's version was black and white with a pop of pink. Today, I am back with a softer, pastel version. The Silhouette cut was used as a stencil.  I sponged around it with Tim Holtz inks.

I used these beautiful flower dies from JustRite and gave them life with my Prima Water color pencils. I added the same sentiment from Stamp Simply's Birthday Blessings, and some of their pretty silk ribbon as well. The sentiment was embossed in gold on a piece of acetate.  I cut the words apart, so I could stagger them on the card.

Here is a recap of the 3 cards.

Birthday Wishes Take Two!

Created by Michele Kovack
Good morning! Here we are with take two of the same card as yesterday.  Different color scheme can make a huge difference in the look of the card! I love black and white together....it's a classic combo. I added a silk pink ribbon from The Stamp Simply store along with the sentiment from their Birthday Blessings set.

I am back at work, Cort is back for her last week of school, last therapy, last cheer leading.
But soon, she will be starting a series of firsts......
New friends, new experiences, new adventures.....
Have a wonderful day!
Stay tuned for Take 3 tomorrow!

Birthday Wishes!

Created by Michele Kovack

Good morning!
I am loving on round cards lately!  I found this fun Blossom Cluster cut from the Silhouette store.  I cut it out several times and this card is my first version.  I will show the other two versions later this week.  It's amazing how color choices can change the entire look of the card!
I water colored the flowers and leaves and then gave it a coating of glossy accents.  I popped it up using foam tape.

I added some posies, white satin ribbon, and pearls to the flowers' centers.  The sentiment is from Stamp Simply's Birthday Blessing's set.  I love the scripty font! So pretty!  It was stamped and embossed on vellum and then cut out.

I am home today with my girl. We are just a week away from her moving to her new group home.
It is so close now that my heart can't deny her leaving any longer.
The suitcase is out, clothes have been labeled and packed, and some tears have been shed.
Logically, I know this will be the best thing for her.
Emotionally, it is difficult to imagine anyone else taking care of her.
It is hard to hand that kind of responsibility over to anyone that isn't me.
But us moms have to give our children wings.
Let them go.
Let them fly.
My baby leaves the nest in a week.
