A Good Laugh at My Expense!!!

Go ahead.....laugh! That is me pretending to have graduated in the 70's! Man I wish I really had that head of hair! Why the goofy photo you ask? Noel gave us a link to Yearbook Yourself and asked us to create LO with our new look! It is a fun site that will take you from the 50's through the 80's. (Think BIG hair! LOL) I decided on this one because my head didn't look too goofy! My journaling is actually remembering my child hood in the 70's. (Click on the photo and you can read it.) Aaaaahhhhh, those were the good old days! I used Noel's Homeroom kit for this LO! (LOVE THIS KIT!)

UPDATE*** I went to the dermatologist today. The doctor feels that the lesion on my face is indeed skin cancer. They took a biopsy today and I will get the results next week. They also cut and cauterized it today too. Hopefully he will get it all out and I won't have to worry about it. My cheek is a bit sore tonight and I will have to wear a band aid to school tomorrow. So I am sure the kids will be asking me about my band aid all day!

Have a great hump day!!!

September Round Up!

It is September Round up time over at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps! I used the adorable Happy Harvest stamp set. I colored this cute scarecrow in with my Copics and cut him out. The paper is SU! and Papertrey Ink. I cut 2 ovals out with my Nestibilities. I curved the sentiment to fit at the top of the oval. I love these felt leaves from Making Memories! I just added a button and twine to finish it off.

I'm gonna share a wee bit of aggravation with you. I have been putting off going to a dermatologist for a weird mole on my face. It has changed and bled, and I think I need to have it checked for skin cancer. So anyway, I call my insurance company to get an in network provider.....I call both numbers they gave me, and neither one takes my insurance! I call the insurance company back and tell them about this. They proceed to give me 2 more names. To make a long story short, I finally get a hold of a dermatologist. I made it a point to tell her the trouble I had getting someone to take my insurance....she puts me on hold for about 10 minutes, comes back and says, "Sure we take your insurance!" Now I am excited right? Even more exciting that that is they can get me in at 5:15PM. Great! I rush to get dinner ready, take part of Cort's dinner with (I'll feed her at the doc's office if need be) drive 35 minutes away, fill out all of the paperwork.......only to be told .....they don't take my insurance! ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!? I drove all that way for NOTHING? I was sooooo mad!! On top of that my stinking gas light was on! UGH! .............ok, I just needed to vent.....thanks for listening.

Happy Tuesday!

Today

Just a little 8 x 8 LO of my DS! It was one of those pics that captured him off guard.....no cheesy grin! We were at the zoo and I called his name, he turned, and I snuck in a quick pic! I love that you can see his cute little dimple on his right cheek! I created this page using Noel's Homeroom kit. (Which is sold out, but she still has the Extra Credit kit....) I love all of the vintage papers lately.....and this kit had this page with the word, sun. I guess it was a cute play on words....sun/son....

I had a busy weekend. Brian and I had a date night Saturday. We were supposed to go to a wine festival, but it got rained out. So instead we went for a nice dinner, did a bit of shopping at the mall, and met friends for drinks and the college football game. Sunday, we visited with my mom and step dad for my birthday. They took us out to a great Italian restaurant! It was nice to catch up with them! We have been bailing our basement out because we had about 5-6 inches of rain in the last 48 hours.....too much for our sump pump to handle. Not that I am complaining....just explaining! : )

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!!!

Some Pics and a HUGE Thank you!

Last weekend we volunteered at Misericordia. This is a fantastic residential community for disabled persons. Our hope is to someday have a place for Cortney there. It is a happy, warm place with tons of caring people. Every Sept. they have their annual picnic. If you live in Illinois, you are probably familiar with this wonderful organization! Brian, my best friend Jennifer, and myself helped in the BINGO tent. We had our little aprons on and sold BINGO boards. It was a lot of fun! One of the local newscasters was there, Carol Maureen.
This is Kyle running his little Tic-Tac-Toe game.
This is Brian holding up his winning pull tickets. He won $50.00!!! WOOHOO!
This is my bestest friend in the whole world, Jennifer! She has stood beside me in everything I have done. She has a heart of gold, and I am so blessed to have her in my life!

I want to thank all of you for voting at the JustRite blog! I am so EXCITED to say, I won 3rd place! All of the other ladies are super talented and had wonderful projects, and I am honored to have competed with them!

Thank you for your visits to my little 'ole blog....it truly means the world to me!

What Do I Want for my Birthday?

Yep, today is my birthday! The big 37! So what do I want for my birthday? Not a whole lot......just a vote! Head on over to the JustRite blog and vote for the project you like best! (I am obviously hoping it is mine! LOL!) I am not usually a lucky person....I don't win at BINGO, lottery cards, or the "big basket" at scrap crops......but I did make it in the top 9 at JustRite! To me that is pretty darn lucky and exciting!

We had to make one alterable project and a card. I decided on a glass Christmas ornament. I used the tiny letters from JustRite to create my own sentiment and then stamped on a transparency with Stazon. I then cut the circle with my Nestibilities. I had to roll it to get it in the ornament. With tweezers I carefully glued the sequins in the center. I wanted to create a "window" effect, so I cut another circle out of paper and very carefully held it to the glass, sprayed adhesive over the entire ornament except for where the paper was. While adhesive was tacky, I sprinkled glitter over it. I added some pretty ribbon, and a few embellishments and it was done. (Like 3 days later.....cuz I putzed and putzed, and agonized and agonized some more!)
The card was created using the tiny letters again from JustRite and inked them with Palette Noir. Then used my Nestibilities for the outside circle and again with a smaller circle for the inside. I threaded the wide ribbon through the circle. Instead of using the word, heart, I decided to punch a heart out and sprinkle it with glitter! The paper is SU! and vintage sheet music.

So please take the time to vote! (And if you're looking for something to "get" me for my birthday.....just vote for me! I will be forever indebted to you! : )

Basket Challenge!

This week over at Bitten By the Bug, the challenge was to use the basket cut from the Doodlecharms cartridge. I decided to use some pieces from Noel's Homeroom Kit. (Which is sold out! She does have 5 left of the Extra Credit Kit though!) This kit has lot of October Afternoon papers! (LOVE October Afternoon!) Anyway, back to the card......I added some silk flowers, and some of my new buttons from SU! The tag happened to be on my desk and thought it worked great on this card. I believe it is from Creative Cafe. Head on over the the BBTB site to see what the other girls have cooked up! Stay tuned tomorrow for a silly post in honor of my birthday!

Spook-tacular!

Just a little Halloween post. This is a new Crafty Secrets stamp set that I am totally loving! I again used some vintage book paper for the background and some Martha Stewart felt webbing. I stamped the cat and cut him out. I wanted him to look super scared of that spider in the tie!

Had a great weekend, but am pooped! We helped in the BINGO tent at Misericordia. ( A residential facility for disabled persons). What an amazing place it is! It gives you such a good feeling to see all these people out there for one reason. It makes you feel like your not alone out there in your struggles. Kyle helped for the first time this year at the children's games tent. He was great! He was really "working" the crowd! I was so proud of him! I will post some pics of him tomorrow!

Until then......have a great Monday!
