Update and Journaling 101 online Course!

I just wanted to update you on Cortney. She had her X-rays today and her hips looked ok. Not dislocated....what a relief! Her left leg turning in is coming from the top of the leg and hip, and the only way to correct it is with surgery. At this point in time, we are opting to wait. We saw a new neurologist today. She recommended the geneticist there. I told her that I had already seen him a couple of years ago and he had nothing new to offer me. (We technically don't have a reason or diagnosis for Cort' s disability. (We use CP for insurance purposes.)
She will recommend to him that we do further chromosome testing. (Subchromosomes) and metabolic panal and some other test I don't remember the name of. We are going to do all of this in January. It was all emotionally draining.....it always is. 13 years with no answers....no reason behind this little girl's disability....*sigh*

Anyway, on to better and brighter news! I told you a couple of weeks ago that I am a DT member for Erika Martin's on-line journaling course?! She has me spotlighted on her blog. It includes how me "met" and a page I did on Cortney. She says the sweetest things that really touched me. She is a mom of a special needs boy and we connected instantly! She is an amazing mother, advocate, and artist! I am honored to be a part of her team!

The Stampin' Mama Journaling 101 Online Scrapbooking Course is just about full, but there are still a couple spaces left. You can still get in if you hurry!

***Just a reminder! BLOG CANDY BELOW!

Have a great weekend......again!

Beautiful Soul and Blog Candy!

This LO started with a piece of cardboard. Yep. This corrugated cardboard came in my son's monthly Top Secret kit. The oval was already cut out......a frame for a photo?! I peeled off the top layer and grunged it up a bit with pink and white paint. See those butterflies? That is a Heidi Swapp mask. Now normally, you would spray "around" the mask, peel it off and Voila, a negative image. Well due to the bumpiness of the cardboard, it wasn't working! So I used the actual mask in the LO. I painted it and sprinkled it with glitter while it was still wet. I used bits and pieces of Melissa Frances paper, vintage book paper, an October Afternoon journaling card, some Creative Cafe tickets, and vintage ribbon. (The papers can be found at Noel Mignon's store).

I decided on this title because my daughter has to be the most innocent, happy girl I know. While most of you struggle with typical 13 year old issues....boys, sassy mouth, homework, etc. I don't. She never talks back, with the exception of a few no's once in awhile and her interest in boys is.....well not there. I deal with other issues.....orthopaedic, seizures, diapers, leg braces, lifting, lifting, and more lifting. But through it all, she has a smile on her face, which makes it just a bit easier for me. When I am with her she breaks my heart and makes my heart swell at the same time...if that makes any sense.

She is on my mind this morning, because we are heading to Shriner's Hospital to see a new neurologist and her orthopaedic. I am concerned because her left hip is clicking terribly and her leg turns in. I am praying that her hip is not dislocated. She is going to be fitted for new leg braces today too. The neurologist will do blood work most likely and adjust her seizure medication. It will be a long day.

On a brighter note......There is blog candy below! The drawing will be on Sunday night! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!! : )

Better Late Than Never Blog Candy!

I don't know how it is possible, but when I am home for the summer, I seem to get less done than when I am working! Maybe it's because I am constantly sneaking into my craft room to get some craftiness done! We all have choices right? Vacuum, dust.....or scrap! mmmmmm bet you can guess which one I choose!

Anyway, as promised, I have blog candy! I finally hit 70,000! So what do you have to do? Just tell me what you would like to see more of, or less of. I will have Kyle draw a name on Sunday night! Pretty easy huh?

I really do appreciate you stopping by! I love to read your comments everyday!

Summer Waves!

On Monday, I had a link to Noel Mignon's Tips and Techniques Blog. To see how I created the "waves" check it out! I used a bit of Noel's Picnic Basket Add-on kit and Melissa Frances glitter hearts. (Also at Noel's store!)
You're probably getting tired of seeing this kid?! NAh! HE is my cutie pie nephew.....you probably already knew that! He is just such a ham that he is fun to photograph!
It was a fun technique and perfect for "water" pages!

Noel has a brand new kit out called The Memory Lane Kit. It has tons of yummy goodness....jammed with papers and one of a kind embellishments! Hurry, they won't last long!

I know I promised blog candy.....I forgot to take a picture of it.....my bad! I will post it later today! Thanks for your patience!!

Graduation Card!

Have I mentioned how much I love my Just Rite Stamps? I had to make a graduation card for my neighbor's daughter who graduated 8th grade. I used her school colors and kept the card clean and simple. I love how personal this card is for the recipient! My neighbor was thoroughly impressed! Just a quick post tonight....my son and I spent the day at Brookfield Zoo. It was nice to spend the day just him and me. Sometimes you need to do that! Anyway, check back tomorrow for some blog candy....I am almost at 70,000!

Bitten By the Bug!

This week's challenge over at Bitten by the Bug was to use the Number sign on the George Cartridge. I struggled with this card a bit. I was up late last night trying to get it right , when finally I gave up! It is, what it is! The DP is by K & Company. I stamped a Lockhart image on a Shrinky Dink. I colored it in with my Copics and then punched it out with my Marvy Heart Punch. When it was shrunk, I threaded it through a jump ring and dangled it from the ribbon.
I guess since I hadn't worked with Shrinky Dinks in awhile, I forgot that the colors get much darker when they are shrunk down. Maybe that's what I don't like? The strawberries are much darker than I would've liked! Oh well......now I know! Head on over to the BBTB site to see what the other girls came up with! Their creations are just gorgeous!

Practicing with the 'ole Copics!

Now that I am officially Copic Certified, I figured I better practice, practice, practice!! I wouldn't want anyone visiting here saying to themselves, " SHE is Copic Certified? Well just look at that awful coloring!"

One of the girls at the class (Julie) had a few stamps with her. She had this adorable Whipper Snapper image that she was kind enough to loan to our table. There is LOTS of coloring on this image. I think it took about an hour just to color it. Simone was giving me a really hard time saying that my once 4 hour cards would now take 5! (She is a funny gal that Simone.) Since the image was rather large I just matted it and used my new paper from K & Company. I also added some pretty felt ribbon because no card is EVER complete without ribbon!

I just posted a tips & techniques page over at Noel Mignon's blog. I hope you go check it out! What is it? How to add texture to your scrap pages!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
