Vintage Button Jar!

Good morning to you!  I have a Crafty Secrets card to share with you today!  It uses the new digi sewing images.  I love that I can make the images any size I like by adjusting them in Photoshop.  I can print them multiple times.  It makes it easy to create depth on the card by using pieces of the image and popping them up.  Like I did here with my button jar.  The label was colored with a pale pink Copic marker.  It was cut out and the edges were glittered.  It was adhered to the jar with dimensional foam circles.
I also cut the lid, added glitter and slipped a piece of lace under it before adhering it with dimensional foam circles. I added a bit of ribbon and a couple of Forget Me Nots.
All of the papers used here are from Crafty Secrets.  My final finishing touches were a bit of hand sewing to create a frame around my jar, seam binding, and a button.
It is hard for me to believe that Cortney is going to be 18 next week.  And Kyle?  Well he is a 16 year old with his brand new driver's permit.  I took him driving for the first time yesterday, and I had a moment.  A moment where his entire childhood flashed before my eyes.  How did these two babies become teenagers so quickly?
Last night Kyle read a book to Cortney at her request.  I had to snap a few shots of them.  These moments are fleeting.
He is working and driving.  He doesn't normally have "time" for his sister.  But last night he carved out a few moments for her.
She told him she loved him.
Twice.
Just to make sure he heard her the first time.
And believe it or not......he told her he loved her too.
*sigh*
I love them so........

Paper Loft April Sketch!

Good morning! It is nearly the end of the month, and I am very late posting the April Sketch challenge for Paper Loft. This challenge runs until April 30th.....so hurry and create something! ;) Someone will be chosen as Guest Designer and receive a $30 gift certificate, a special badge and have their projects featured on the Paper Loft blog throughout the month of June.  To  participate: Make a project (card, scrap layout or any project that works with the sketch) using the provided sketch and upload it to your blog or online gallery. Leave a link to your project at the Paper Loft site. The Paper Loft products are not required to participate, but the winner will be chosen from a participant that uses The Paper Loft products somewhere on their project.

Here is my take on the sketch.  I continued the angled pieces to the edge and added red line tape and sprinkled glitter over it.  It is perfect for glittery stripes!
I left the twine a bit long to create a  "shooting star."

I apologize for being a slacker......I think I should be fired some days for this bloggy, crafty life I got goin' on! My "real" life keeps gettin' in the way! ;)

Best Fishes!

Good morning to you!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  I spent the better part of mine crafting, doing laundry, and visiting with Brian's Gram.  (She just turned 93!) April is speeding to an end and I have to start thinking about Cort's prom next week, Kyle's spring dance, and my girl's 18th birthday.  Plus the school year is starting to wind down and soon I will have to get report cards out, my room packed up, and finish up all of those IEP's.

As I was crafting and finishing up assignments for Northridge Publishing, I had a moment where I sat back and recognized how lucky of a gal I am.  I adore my Cricut and challenging myself to create something different and unique.  And although, I may not always accomplish that, I get to play, experiment, and have fun trying! So today, I am sharing a card I created for the Quick and Easy magazine.
I used Life's a Beach to create this fun, goldfish shaped card.  I added lots of glitter, clear dew drops, ribbon, and tulle. I added silver Flower Soft at the bottom to emulate rocks.
I adore how Northridge photographs our projects.  They truly do a beautiful job.  The picture above is my photo from home.  (Drab and boring right?) The two below are Northridge's.  It's like the card got an instant makeover!
It's amazing how adding a few props can make a card come alive!
I am off and running to start my day!
Hope you have a great Monday!

Shabby Apple Winner!

It is time to announce the winner of the Shabby Apple Gift Certificate!
I have so enjoyed reading the one fashion item you couldn't live without!
I know mine is my wedding ring and a lightweight wool coat that I wear in the
spring and in the fall. One has sentimental value and the other just looks cute! ;)

Now on to the winner........drum roll please........
The winner IS......

Oh I love Shabby Apple! I do follow you and have been for a couple of years! :-)

My favorite piece is my flip flops! I lived in Hawaii where that is all you wear, so I have collected quite a few and it's quite the celebration when spring rolls around and I can be reunited with them again! :-)
