Joy...

Good morning!  I have a quiet house at the moment.  My son had prom and then overnight to an Aname convention. My husband is golfing, and Cort is sleeping.  So I am savoring my cup of coffee while listening to my dog snore in the background.  Once Cort gets up, my day will be crazy once again.
She has been battling an infection in her knee.  If today it isn't any better, I will be taking her to the ER. :(

Thank you for leaving me comments my last post. I was starting to feel a bit lonely here. ;)
I have a card I made a couple of weeks ago before the crap hit the fan here in the Kovack household.
I love flowers almost as much as I love glitter.....and water colors. I love water colors too.
So I used the Spellbinder's Rose die and created a cluster of roses.  I cut them with water color paper and used Peerless watercolors to add color.
I used various Spellbinder's circle and scallop dies , Simon Says Stamp Circle die, as well as Lawn Fawn's Joy die to create the base of the card. And as expected, I added a healthy dose of glitter.
In the midst of craziness, my son had his senior prom.  It was a couple of hours all about him.  My emotions have been all over the place this week.  I am so proud of my son. He is such a caring gentle young man. He has a heart of gold and I am going to miss him terribly in the fall when he goes away to school.
His childhood has been spent in the shadow of his sister's medical issues, therapies, doctor appointments, and constant care. He has never complained. He goes out of his way to help me.
He has comforted me on bad days and let me cry.
To see my son happy, is the best gift a mother can receive.  I love him dearly and I adore the man he is becoming.
There is a good chance I will be heading to the hospital with Cort.  Unless she had some miraculous recovery last night.  Please pray that this infection starts to heal and she can get back to being her happy smiling self.
And thank you for not letting me feel like a lonely loser over here.  ;)
Your comments certainly brightened my day!

Shaker Style

Happy weekend to you! I have a tiny lull in my morning and thought I'd post today, since I neglected to do so yesterday. I have a JustRite card to share with you that uses the Antique Autumn Tags One set. I created a sort of shaker with vellum, sequins, and my sewing machine. I think it creates kind of a cool backdrop to the sentiment.  I added additional leaves using    Spellbinder's dies.
I colored my mini leaves and acorn with Copics, cut it out by hand, and added glossy accents to make it a bit more substantial.

I have a busy weekend ahead of me!  Hubby is taking me out tonight for my birthday and hasn't spilled the beans on where he is taking me.....so that's always fun! : ) Tomorrow we are headed to the north side of Chicago to volunteer our time at Misericordia.  It is a group home for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities.
Be sure to check back on Monday for a giveaway!  (It will be pretty big....cuz it's......ahem....a special day!

Crafty Secret's Linky Party!

I am heading to school today to start setting up my classroom. I am excited for a new school year to start, but sad that this summer flew by so quickly! My school has installed Smartboards in each of the classrooms. It is such a motivating tool for the students! But it also means I have lots of learning to do myself! So over the next few weeks I will be playing a lot, experimenting, creating lessons, and making sure I know this new "computer" well. : )

I created this fun little card using Crafty Secret's Pixie Wishes set.   I colored everything with Copics and did a bit of fussy cutting.  I am a bit crazy when it comes to dimension.  I just can't do a flat card....it isn't in me!  So the mushrooms and elf were popped up with pop dots. I tied a bit of twine around the image and cut the circles and squares out using Spellbinder's dies.
Crafty Secret's is hosting their August Linky Party!

Cutie...

Good morning to you! It has been a busy weekend of redecorating and painting our basement. Our house was built in the 50's when knotty pine was all the rage. After 20 years of living here we decided to paint it and redo the room. I will post before and after pics when it's all done. Let me just say.....what a difference a coat of paint can make!

I have a Crafty Secret's card to share with you today. It is the new Cutie Cat Stamp's set.  I colored these cuties in with my Copics.  I distressed the edges a bit with brown ink and added a bit of glitter with my Spica pen.
The scalloped square was cut using a Spellbinder's die.  I added the sentiment and some string tied into a bow.
One of my very good on-line blogger friends, Paula Moser Drew made this adorable T-shirt for Cortney.  I love how she chose pink and made the little gal to have short hair with a headband! So stinkin' cute!

And since I chose to spell Cort's name differently, it is difficult to get personalized stuff for her, so this just made my day! : )
My poor son is getting his wisdom teeth, all 4, out today! Ouch!  So I will be on mommy duty today. Hopefully, it all goes well, without too much pain!
Have a great day!

JustRite's New Release-Day Four!

Good morning to you! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July holiday!  Our town does a big parade and fireworks show every year, so we attended that and watched the fireworks from our back yard.....we are lucky!

Today is JustRite's Day 4 of new releases!  Today's set is a vintage inspired set that I just adore! It is called, Just Because Vintage Labels.   I colored mine in with Copics and cut it out using Spellbinder's Vintage Label and Banner die.  I cut the Eiffel Tower using my Cricut and then gave it a healthy dose of purple glitter.  The background was stamped using the Fleur De Lis stamp.
I embossed the cream card stock, and then added the ruffled ribbon.
The flower was cut using my Cricut and the left over Fleur De Lis stamped paper.
Here is the set in its entirety. Beautiful right?!

New Release by JustRite-Oceanside Oval Medallion Labels

Good morning and happy Friday to you! This has been quite a week for me. My brand new 6 month old computer caught a terrible virus that corrupted my operating system. I have been without my computer for 4 days now and am currently working off of my mini laptop. It has been a bit frustrating to say the least! I feel like I do all the right things, and yet I still got a virus! Thankfully my hubby had bought me the extended warranty and all repairs are covered!

I am sure you didn't come here to hear me grumble about the aggravations of life, so let's get to my card! : ) It uses the new set by JustRite called, Oceanside Oval Medallion Labels. What a fun little set this is!  I used markers to color the image in black and red and that gave it a good "huff" to remoisten the ink.  I stamped the border in black and used two sizes of the Spellbinder's Oval Medallion dies.  The images were stacked with dimensional foam circles.
The paper is by My Mind's Eye/Lost And Found, which I thought was perfect for a lobster image!  It gave it that "East Coast" look! ; )

I stamped the crab on a Shrinky Dink and cut it out with a circle Spellbinder's die.  I had punched a hole in it before shrinking so I could tie it to my ribbon.  I thought it was kind of a fun little accent!
I added a few rhinestones.....
Here is the set in its entirety!  Cool right?
Be sure to visit the other designer's blogs for more projects using this fabulous set! Be sure to check back with me this weekend for more JustRite inspiration! Have a wonderful Friday my friends!

Sea Shell Bay!

Good morning to you my crafty friends! I hope you are enjoying all of the new releases from JustRite so far! They have come out with a summer set that is sure to knock your socks off! It is an absolutely gorgeous set and makes me want winter to speed by just a bit faster! It is called Sea Shell Bay. My card today uses the sentiment and frame from the set, plus this little seashell. The panels were cut using Spellbinder's Labels Twenty-Two.   I used Helmar's crackle medium for the orange back panel.  It gives the paper such a cool distressed look!  I added this nautical bow I've had in my stash forever and tied a button and rustic twine.  I also added a hanging clear drop under the bow.
Isn't this the most beautiful summer set you've ever seen?  I have another card using this set to share in the near future! : )
