So Totally Off Schedule!

Alrighty....it is Saturday.....and if you know my normal "routine," you know that I am usually a Monday-Friday poster. And it is done in the morning. Not this week. No siree. I have been posting at anytime during the day......and on a Saturday! Is it because I like to "mix it up" a bit? Keep you on your toes? Nope. I'll give you one guess. W.O.R.K! Now don't get me wrong, I love my job and the people I work with, and technically it isn't their fault. It's all me. Me not being able to drag my sorry butt out of bed in the morning.....me not being organized to prepare meals when I get home.....me not being able to stay up into the wee hours of the night.

So bare with me while I make this transition back into the working world.....eventually, I will get back on a regular schedule!

I have a "Congratulations on Your New Home" card to share with you today. This adorable set if from the Cutting Cafe'. It is called "Welcome Home." I paper pieced it using lots of October Afternoon papers. I backed it with a bit of black so it would stand out a bit. I used my Circle Spellbinder's die to cut the background and grass. Martha Stewart fringe scissors were used to cut the grass. I used dictionary paper for the background and backed it with black and olive paper.
I shaded the window in with my Copics and added Crystal Effects for some shine. The tree is a punch by EK Success. The door was also shaded with Copics to add a bit of depth.
I really, really, really appreciate you stopping by here! Your visits mean the world to me!
Have a wonderful weekend! I am off to a birthday party today and tomorrow the family and I are heading down to Navy Pier to see the "Tall Ships" exhibit! : )

Always U!

I just received my newest kit from Noel Mignon called, "Sweet Sue!" It is such a great kit......as are all of her kits! I knew I had to scrap these pics of my 13 year old being his silly self. He loves to pose and act goofy for the camera! I hope he never loses that playful spirit of his! I cut the star and circle using my Cricut and George and Basic Shapes cartridge. I did some inking, distressing, and faux stitching. ( I was waaaaaay too lazy to pull out the sewing machine. I am back at work you know! LOL!)
I love these stickers by Sassafrass and decided to create flowers with them. Yes, flowers....even for a boy's page! They are "masculine" flowers! : ) I cut the "petals" and folded and turned the edges up. I layered them with pop dots for dimension. I adore this star stick pin and stuck it in the middle of my main "masculine" flower! ; )

The stars were punched with my SU! star punch and covered with Distressing Stickles in Shabby Shutters. (One of the many fabby things in this awesome kit!) I inked the edges when they were dry and added rhinestones to their centers.

If you didn't grab a "Sweet Sue" kit yet, get it quick! There are only 13 of them left!

Have a great day! And thanks so much for paying me a visit!!

Another Tutorial! : )

Good morning and happy Wednesday to you! I have survived two whole days of work! I am not used to getting up so early in the morning....and I have to admit it... those late nights of crafting are kickin' my butt! I am pooped!

I have another tutorial for you today using one of JustRite's new font sets, Myriad Pro. It is such a classic sleek font! I used 50 pt to stamp the word, Smile on my clouds with Pure Poppy ink. (Cloud die and ink are by Papertrey Ink). I added Crystal Effects to the clouds and sprinkled translucent Martha Stewart glitter on them. The card base uses a scalloped Spellbinder's die. I cut a circle at 3 3/4 and embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder.
My glitter obsession continues......... : )
If you would like to make your very own rainbow.....because who doesn't like rainbows? I have step by step directions to making your own!
Remember the rainbow colors? ROYGBIV? Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. For my rainbow I didn't use indigo.....which is a dark blue. I then cut 6 circles. I have listed the sizes I used.
Stack your circles leaving just a bit peeking at the top of each color.

Cut the bottom off of your circle stack!

Use a 2 3/8 Spellbinder's circle and some low tack artist's tape to hold the die in place. You might have to run it through a couple of times because your stack is thick. You may even have to finish the job with scissors!
This is what it looks like when you cut the bottom of your rainbow. It looks pretty good right? BUT not as good as if it had glitter.........riiiiiiight????
Of course you agree with me whole heartedly! So grab your tray, glitter, and Crystal lacquer!

Apply a thin coat of the Crystal lacquer over the entire rainbow with your finger. Then sprinkle A LOT of glitter over it!
Shake off the excess glitter......and voila! A pretty, glittery, rainbow!!!

Be sure to check out the JustRite blog for the other DT gals that created projects using the new Myriad Pro font!!!
Thanks sooooo much for stopping by for a visit! I love reading your comments......It makes my day! (Yes, I am pretty pathetic......*sigh*)

JustRite's Backyard Birds!

Hello again!!! I have a double post today!!! If you are here for Crafty Secrets.....just scroll down a bit! : )

JustRite has come out with some gorgeous new stamps and one of them is Backyard Birds! I chose the robin.....although I didn't color him anything like a robin......creative license right? I colored the image with Copics. (E31, E33, E35, E50, G82, YG63, YG95, YG03, Y32, BG10, BG0000, Bg32, v06, RV00)) The image was cut using a Spellbinder's circle. I backed the image with a small scalloped circle. The sentiment was stamped in Ripe Avocado by Papertrey Ink. It was cut out with two Spellbinder's circle dies. The edges were inked a bit. I cut a circle to 8 inches using my Cricut cartridge George & Basic Shapes. I cut the circle in half and then folded it in half again. I used my scalloped scissors to cut the edges. I also did lots of hand sewing on this card!
And of course what would a card be without some glitter on the bird or eggs? : )
JustRite will be showing their new sets all week, so be sure to check out the blog daily! Have a great rest of your Monday!!!

Crafty Secret's New Product Blog Hop AND a Tutorial!

Good morning! I can't believe it is Monday and today is my first day back at work! I always have such mixed feelings.....sadness that summer is ending, but excited to see my teacher peeps and to start a new year with new students!

Today is the Crafty Secret's New Product Blog Hop! And believe me, there are tons of new products! I have made quite a few samples over the last couple of weeks that I will be showing soon! I have this card to share with you today using a new small set called, Floral Vines. When I first saw this image, stained glass instantly came to mind. So I set out to achieve that particular look. I have a step by step tutorial showing you how this card was created.

It is hard to see in the photo, but the base of the card (transparency) was embossed using a Papertrey Ink impression's template.
I hope you can see the dimensional stained glass effect! It is so difficult to capture on camera!
Here are the directions on how to create your own Stained Glass card!
