Let's Talk About my House and Manly Cards!

Okay maybe I should have entitled this, Manly Cards and My House! 

You came here for the cards (I think) so I will share that first! 

This entire week will be dedicated to the men in your life! 

I have to admit, I don't like masculine cards.

I can't add glitter.

Or flowers.

Or any of the frou frou stuff, I usually like to add.

BUT....I DO like shaped cards!

So here is one that was cut using my Silhouette. 

I layered in shades of blue and did a bit of inking in a darker blue for more depth. 

I added a sticker sentiment from SRM and a little twine bow. 

Is that allowed?

No glitter, or flowers though! 

We are making our way through the house making it our own.  My poor kid had a hot pink room when we first moved in.  It would be fine if he LIKED hot pink, but he doesn't.

So...we painted the walls a soft gray.  Kyle wanted a pop of color, so he decided on orange.

After a hundred trips to IKEA, Home Goods (my absolute favorite store!) and Amazon, we got his room together!

Love this city sky line!

He wanted a shelf to display his painted War Hammer figurines.  (Any other kid involved in War Hammer?  Or is it only my kid?)

I found this at Home Goods and thought it was a good reminder for him, for me, for all of us.

He loves maps and globes....and books.

Aren't these orange lockers the bomb? LOVE them! (IKEA!)

A Card and a Few Pictures of my New House!

Good morning and happy weekend!  I was up on the SRM blog a few days ago with this card I created!  It uses a set called, Bible Margins Love.   I stamped it with Versamark and embossed it in gold.  I added a bit of color with Copic markers and inked the edges with Tim Holtz ink.  

The card itself was cut using my Silhouette.  I went a bit glitter crazy!  I added a think layer of glossy accents and sprinkled the glitter directly over it.  I added gems for some extra sparkle. 

So obviously (by my lack of posts) we have been working and enjoying our new town home. It keeps us pretty busy because there is so much in the area to do! (Which we love!) I still haven't finished my craft room, but it is close, so I will share those pics as soon as I finish getting it set up!
Our bedroom is pretty much done.  All I would like to add is some curtains and then it is done!

We've never had a "formal" dining room before, so it is great to have this extra space! Especially when Cortney comes home....it is much more wheelchair friendly! 

We had two mailboxes.  One by the street and one by our front door.  Apparently and elderly woman lived here before us and couldn't walk to the street to pick up her mail.  So my next door neighbor installed this box and would bring her mail to her.  (super sweet man!)  Instead of tearing it down, I thought it would make a good planter box! My husband drilled a few small holes at the bottom, added potting soil, and a few flowers! 

And last but not least.....Brian and I just celebrated 25 years together! We went away this past weekend, but our "real" celebration happens this summer when we take a cruise to Alaska!  It has been a dream of ours since the day we go married!

I've been a very neglectful blogger! 

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend!  Both of my kids were home for Mother's Day, so my house and my heart were full! 

I was up on the SRM blog last week with a new card I had created using the new set, Bible Bubbles. 

I first stenciled the background with a few Tim Holtz inks and then stamped each sentiment directly over it in black ink. 

I gave each bubble dimension using gray Copic markers.  I stamped a few hearts and colored them in with red.  To get each sentiment to stand out a bit more, I added glossy accents.

I added red twine at the top to bring out the red a bit more.

We Love....

Good morning friends!  I was up on the SRM Blog yesterday with this little number.  It uses their new set called, Bible Margins Love.   I stenciled the background first with a polka dot stencil and Tim Holtz inks.  I cut it into two pieces using a scalloped edge die from Spellbinders.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed in black.  I layered it over a piece of plaid paper from Lawn Fawn.  My last few touches were sequins and silk ribbon to "tie" the piece together.  

Cortney comes home this weekend to celebrate her 23rd birthday. The other day she had Facetimed me  and I asked her what she would like for her birthday and she VERY loudly and VERY clearly stated, "CAKE!"  LOL!  I think I can handle that! ;) 

Colored Pencils and Stamping!

Good morning to you! I have a card today on the SRM Blog that I created when my house (and life) were in complete chaos! All of my craft stuff was packed away in a million boxes, but I had found the box that contained my coloring mediums.  I actually went to Michaels and found this stamp and purchased it.  I sat and colored it with my Prisma Colored pencils and it felt so good to be a little creative!

Now that my craft room is together I was able to finish the card.  I stamped it with SRM's Big Hello set in black ink and my Mini Misti, so I could get a crisp dark impression.  I also added a few stitch lines from SRM's Stamped Stitches set. 

For my finishing touchs, I added a bit of coordinating ribbon and a button. The plaid paper is from Lawn Fawn.

Water Colors and Chaos!

Let me start by saying this.

Moving is not for the faint of heart.

Holy moly it is way more difficult than I ever could have imagined,

and expensive!

We are still packing and my house currently looks like a UPS facility!

We are less than two weeks from moving,

and my craft stuff is officially in boxes.

Poop.

I did manage to get a couple of cards done and this was one of them. I played around with SRM's water color twist pencils.  I "smooshed" a bit of the water color pencil on to an acrylic block and mixed it with water.  I used the wet on wet technique, meaning the paper was also wet.  This gives a lot of movement to the colors, which I like a lot! Once all of my various pieces were dry, I cut them into diamond shapes and placed them on the edge of the card. I cut the excess off.   

I added glossy accents to the diamonds and set aside to dry.  Once it was dry, I added a strip of silver sparkly paper and SRM's thank you sticker.  I adhered a few rhinestones and a simple knotted ribbon. 

Thank you for putting up with my sparse posts.....at some point we will be on the "other side."  That's when the real fun starts...

Merry Christmas! ( A Day Late!)

Good morning!

I was supposed to post this yesterday and wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.....but well I got a present of the flu instead. 

Bummer.

Fortunately it only lasted a day and a half and I seem to be pretty much back to normal!

I created this card with this adorable MFT stamp.  She was colored in with Copic markers. 

I masked her and used a snowflake stencil and inks behind her.  I added glossy accents and loads of glitter.  For a final touch I tied pink/white twine with jingle bells, and a sentiment from SRM's Stickers by the Dozen/Gingerbread Boy.

A Little Somethin' Somethin'

Good morning! I am up on the SRM Blog today with a quick little gift idea!

I am a 4th grade teacher and like to get my co-workers a little somethin'

Food is always a good gift right? ;)

I grabbed a few of these glass jars from my over stocked basement full of crap stuff! 

I added two strips of double sided tape and rolled them in glitter. 

I added a bow I cut from my Silhouette and a cute sticker from SRM, appropriately called Gingerbread Stickers by the Dozen. Add a bit of food to the container and BAM, you are done!

This is my last week of school before our two week break.  The students and staff are heading out to the movies today to see Ferdinand and the Bull. It's always a lot of fun!

Shaker Ornament!

Okay folks, it's getting real now. 

Christmas is less than a week away.

Am I freaking out a little bit?  Possibly.

Is my shopping done? Nope.

Is my baking done? Nope.

Am I in the Christmas spirit? Absolutely!

I created this shaker ornament using Spellbinder's dies, acetate, a Fancy Sentiments Sticker from SRM, and these cute little fillers from Queen and Co.

The Poinsettia was cut using a Spellbinder's die and giving it swipes of color with a Copic marker.  I dabbed a bit of glue in the center and added more of the solid beads from Queen and Company.  Everything was glued to the top of the ornament.

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Good morning! 

So I am glad to be participating in the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop!

I used this cute little Coffee Plans stamp set from SRM Stickers!

For my card, I wanted to create a background using the coffee cup.  I stamped it in a brown ink and used Prisma Colored pencils.  I added a sentiment from the Stickers by the Dozen collection across the front.  I tucked a red die cut leaf behind it.  (After the leaf had been given a coating of glossy accents and glitter!)

I added a bit of rustic twine tied into a bow.  I scattered several gems and stars from Queen & Co.to the front. 

I rounded the back panel's edges on two sides and adhered the entire front to a kraft card.

Shaker Teacher Card!

Good morning!  

It's been awhile....life has been crazy ( I think I say this a lot lately!) 

We are extremely involved in Cortney's group home, Misericordia.  Her dad an I serve on the board and I came up with an idea to create jewelry for the families.  I had worked with a local jeweler for over a year.  So with the holidays approaching we are attending numerous events and selling our jewelry.  (Proceeds all benefit Misericordia)

So crafting has been pushed aside lately.

I did manage to make a card for the SRM Blog though.  I used bits and pieces for the shaker portion, from Queen and Co. 

The apples were stamped on an oval frame from the Healthy Plans Clear Planner stamp. Each one was colored with Copics. I gave each apples a coating of glossy accents.  Once it was dry, I used the White Reminisce gel pen to give the apples a highlight. 

I used a teacher sticker from the Quick Cards Back to School set.

Pumpkin Treat Boxes!

Good morning!

Michele here with some fall treats!

I think these little clear boxes are so dang cute!

I took a piece of burlap and adhered it to the outside of the box.

I cut a bunch of pumpkins with my Silhouette. I inked the edges and layered them using Crafty Foam Tape.   I did a bit of Copic coloring on the leaves and layered everything on to the top of the box.  I added a sentiment from the Express Yourself Halloween Sticker set.   I even cut out the teeny candy corn and adhered it to a clear button.

I tied the black and white twine and tucked the sentiment underneath and glued the button/candy corn to the top.  

My boxes are all ready for my co-workers to receive, for a little sweet pick me up!!

House Warming Cards and Bags

Good morning! I am sharing a  couple of cards and gift bags that I thought would be perfect for enclosing a gift card for a new home owner or a recent college grad! 

I used my Silhouette to cut the silhouettes! I adhered a dream sticker from the Everyday Life collection.

I added a few sequins and some glitter glue to the heart.

I am in love with these cute striped bags!  I added a silhouette and a sentiment from the Everyday Life collection. I wanted the word, Life to stand out, so I colored it with a pink Copic marker. 

I am loving the colors here of mint green, turquoise, and hot pink! 

I did the same set but used the pink polka dot bags instead and a slightly different color combination. I used the same sticker for the bag and again colored it with a pink Copic marker.  

Pink and baby blue....doesn't get much sweeter!

Birdhouse!!

Good morning my friends! Here today with a bird house shaped box!

Every now and then I love to dust off the ole' Silhouette and do something "outside" the box!  (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) ;)

I cut the bird house out of kraft card stock.  I stamped it with a wood grain texture and assembled it.  I added flowers, leaves and a few sequins. I decided to finish it off with an SRM sticker!  Mine is from the Happy Birthday Sticker Sentiments, which is no longer available, but you can find a very similar sticker in the Sentiment/Congratulations sticker sheet!

Here is one last look at my bird house in all of its glittered glory!

Coffee Lover's Blog Hop!!

Good morning coffee lovers!! 

I am so glad to jump on in to the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop!

I created this card using SRM's new stamp set called, Coffee Plans and incorporated it with a fun Silhouette cut called, Coffee Pulse.

The background was stamped in a light brown and the coffee bean.  I adhered my die cut and used my Misti to line up the words, including the hashtag, around it. 

I added a few teeny punched hearts covered them with glossy accents and sunk a bitty Queen and Co. flower in the center.  When it was dry I added some black enamel accents to the centers of the flowers and few scattered around.  

What a fun day for a hop! TGIF!
