Recipe Addict!

Had a great day with my 5th graders yesterday! Spring has FINALLY arrived here in Chicago! IT was sunny and in the mid 60's! After walking and being outside all day, coming back to school, playing SPUD with a few students after school (Part of a mentoring program we are doing), going to Yoga with Cort.........it was an exhausting day! But a GOOD exhausted.

Anyway, on to my crafty project here. I don't know about any of you, but in our household we collect recipes. Ya know books, magazines, clipped recipes from family and friends?! I have an entire cabinet filled with books and papers. My husband is just as bad. EVERY single time he makes a run to the store he comes home with one of those mini recipe books you see at the check out. He comes in like a proud little kid with his new cooking magazine! We also get those Kraft Food magazines every couple of months. You'd swear we were gourmet cooks here. I decided that enough was enough! All those misc. papers and clippings need to be in one spot where I can find them. I ordered this recipe box from Papertrey Ink. I covered it with papers from Crafty Secret's Radiant Pad.

The handle of the box is actually a toy rolling pin that I picked up at Michaels. (Cute right?) I used rub ons to title it. For the top I added a Melissa Frances glittered heart that was sprayed with walnut ink to "dirty" it up a bit. There are various ribbons, buttons, and the circle was stamped with Crafty Secret's So Sweet set, and the Desk/Library/Kitchen set from Just Rite.
At first, I was going to type all of the recipes, but decided that it really wasn't realistic of me. So as much as I hate my handwriting, I decided it would be easier for me to do! I want to be able to add to my box as I need it. I did take strips of Graphic 45 paper to dress up the recipe a bit.

For each of the dividers I used Just Rite's newest set called, Recipe Borders and Centers. For some of them I added a Lockhart image that had been colored and cut out. (Love those lil' radishes!)

So at least now I can channel my addiction into one little box instead of loose all over the kitchen!
What are we having for dinner tonight you ask?
PIZZA! LOL!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!!!!! : )

Hello!

I found this cute paper at Michaels a few weeks ago by DCWV and knew I had to use it with the Crafty Secret's Sweet Stuff set. The paper is even prettier in real life because it sparkles like crazy! The image was colored with Copics. The circles were cut with my Spellbinder's Nestibilities. The bottom piece was cut with my new Spellbinder's die. Love how lacy and pretty it looks!

I also added some Crystal Lacquer to the chocolate in the bowl.

I managed to get to Cort's school and Shriners yesterday. I love visiting her school, because the staff just loves Cort. She is soooooo talkative and happy there. If you only knew how long we waited to hear her talk........it is truly the best thing in the world to hear her sing songy sweet little voice! Her orthopaedic appt. was uneventful. Everything looks ok. Her muscles are super tight and we are considering Botox injections, but not until the late summer or fall. We'll see.
I am going on a field trip with my 5th graders. A forest preserve that conducts different programs.....like pond life, tracking, edible wild plants, etc. Should be a fun day, and the weather is supposed to be in the 60's and sunny! Maybe spring has finally arrived?! Have a wonderful day!!!!

How Tweet!

Just a quick post this morning. I am off today to visit my daughter's school. The school is recommending a new speech device to supplement her speech. So I am going to observe another student using it, and see if it is something that would be helpful to Cort. After that, we are off to Shriner's Hospital for an orthopaedic appt. She goes every 6 months to make sure her hips don't dislocate. She has something called, "subluxed" hips. This just means her hip socket is very shallow, due to the fact that she doesn't walk. So it will be kind of a long day.......

My card uses some Graphic 45 paper, a Martha Stewart bird that I covered in Diamond Dust (Kind of gives it a "sugary" look!), vintage lace and paper, and my JustRite Times New Roman Font, stamp set, for the sentiment.

Happy Wednesday!!! Thanks as always for stopping by! : )

It IS Spring........right?

It truly feels like Spring is never going to arrive............ever. It is cold and rainy here. Such a icky dreary Monday. Blah! So to overcome those winter blues, I have been working on bunches of Spring LO's. I am sooooo enjoying working with Noel's newest kit called Lovely Days. It truly has the pretties papers and such in it. I did add a few vintage goodies......I just can't resist! I added some lace, music paper, and doilies. This LO captures my sweet niece while she played dress up. I was lucky enough, that she was standing right by the glass sliding doors, which made for pretty, soft lighting.

Isn't she the cutest little gal? : ) (Not that I am biased or anything!)
A "sugar" coated clear button using Diamond Dust.

This clear butterfly was altered using light blue Stickles and then sprinkled with Diamond Dust.
Noel is hosting a spring challenge HERE. Hope you can play along!!!
Happy Tuesday!!!

A Sweet Thank You

Is it possible to still be full after eating all day yesterday? We ate so much not just once.....but twice. Last night we made our sandwiches with the left over ham after everyone went home. We piled our plates high with coleslaw, sweet potatoes, green beans, and potato casserole. Gluttony.......pure gluttony! And I enjoyed every moment of it! It was a great Easter spent with the family. I have lots of cute pics of my little niece and nephew. Lots to scrap! In the meantime, I have a Just Rite project to share with you.

The "shopping bag" was cut with my Cricut. (Tags, Bags, Boxes, and more cartridge) I used Papertrey's new clear cardstock which btw, cuts pretty well on the Cricut! Oh, the possibilities! The cupcake in the center is Crafty Secret's Sweet Stuff set. I colored it with my Copics and added Diamond Dust to "sugar" the frosting. A Sweet Thank You, sentiment, is Just Rite's, What's Cookin? set.

I am working on another JustRite project, but it is taking me a bit longer to get it done......: )
Have a wonderful Monday!!! Thanks so much for stopping to visit! : )

Happy Easter!

Just wanted to take this time to wish everyone a Happy Easter! I am so thankful for so many things in my life, and this wonderful hobby and all the great people I've met through blogging are some of them! : )
