Lovin' Me Some Mill Street!

I just got Noel's Mill Street kit on Tuesday and couldn't wait to dive right in to this fabulous kit! Unfortunately, life seems to have gotten in the way of my creative time this week. So my time being so limited, I decided I could at least sneak a card in! The image is actually from a 12 x 12 piece of DP from Cosmo Cricket. I love it because it comes with a variety of images that you just cut out and plop onto a card! I did dress it up a bit with inks and some of the pretty papers in the kit. The leaves in the corner were Maya Road stamps. (Yes, they are in the kit too!) I stamped them in 3 colors and cut each of them out. I added a button, twine, and a pretty stick pin to the leaves. This soft, lush, velvety ribbon finished off the card!

These stamps are so detailed that even the "veins" of the leaves show up ridiculously well!

So it is Friday.......already! Geesh! I guess I blinked a bit too long! : ) I am glad though because tomorrow I get to hang out with my scrapbooking girls for a 12 hour crop to benefit breast cancer. I haven't seen my girl peeps in awhile and it will be nice to catch up! ( My loving hubby said it was ok to miss Sweetest Day.....cuz he said everyday with me is Sweetest Day! ok......a collective, "awwwwww" from all of you! LOL!
I hope to shut my mouth long enough to get at least a few pages done......I am bringing my Noel kits.......cuz I don't need to pack much else then!
Hope your weekend is fabulous!

Apple Picking

Cortney achieved a HUGE milestone this year. Let me back up and give you some background info.......Cort has many, many sensory issues and one of them includes the motion of stopping and going. Any activities that require her to stop and go, such as: shopping, going to the zoo, driving in a car, going to the museum......or picking apples, would usually end up with my girl in tears, tantrum mode, and banging her head off the back of her headrest. It wasn't fun........for MANY years. At one point, my family suggested I just not take her out......yep....leave her at home. Seriously? Am I doomed to never get a gallon of milk from Jewel because Cort would end up in full blown tantrum mode? I never gave in.......I MADE her go out.....MADE her shop.....MADE her go to the mall......and yes......MADE her go apple picking! Well, this year she didn't end up in tantrum mode.....no crying.....no head banging! She actually enjoyed picking the apples off the trees and putting them in the bag. She loved having her lunch outside. She fed the goats and cows without tears, rode on the hay ride happily, and shopped in the gift store! When we decided to leave she actually said in her sweet sing songy voice, "No."
I replied, "No what Cort?"
She said, "No go home.....apple pick!"
Well that was enough to make this mother quite teary eyed. I guess my little girl is finally growing up! : )

Everything is from Noel Mignon's scrap kits. I used her 31st kit, Core Curriculum, and Rise & Shine. (All sold out) I added a 7 Gypsies tag, a couple of doilies, and used a JustRite's Autumn Blessings and Borders stamp. I colored that in with my Copics, did some airbrushing, and then used my oval Nestibilities. I loved that it said, "Thankful for the Little Things." Which I am......everyday. : )
I made my lil' apples shiny with some Crystal Effects. And don't forget....the Mill Street kit is up for preorder....and the last time I checked there were only 9 kits left! If interested, go HERE!
I can't believe today is Thursday....that means work and then off to Spanish class tonight. Busy, busy day......but it's all good. : )
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Your visits and comments are incredibly appreciated! (Now if I could only teach my wonderful family how to leave comments too! )

Northern Illinois University

Noel issued a challenge this week to scrap about our college days. I couldn't find any pics that were actually taken at college so I decided to go naked.......that is.....photoless! : ) It was sort of liberating to focus on my journaling for a change. I cut the NIU letters with my Cricut Street Sign cartridge. I did a bit sewing and distressing.....something I seem to always do! : )

So here is a bit of insight into my life about 17 years ago. I was actually a pretty boring college student! : )
If you'd like to participate in the challenge go HERE!!! We'd love to see your LO! And Don't forget to head HERE too! Pre-orders for Noel's newest kit called Mill Street are being taken! I got mine today and let me tell ya........jam PACKED with goodies!!!!
That's all I've got today.......so I guess this post is short and sweet!
Happy Hump Day!!!!

2 Sketches 4 You and JustRite

This week's sponsor at 2Sketches4You is JustRite. If you play along this week, you have the opportunity to win a $100.00 gift certificate. Woohoo! How generous is JustRite?!!! : ) I love the sketches that Laura and Kazan come up with and I was so glad I found a bit of time to play along.

I used the JustRite stamp, Birthday Wishes and Border set. I colored it in with my Copics and also airbrushed it. The paper is old book paper and Making Memories. Of course I had to throw in a little paper doily too! : )

Hope you can play along with us this week! : )
**********************************************************
So here is the deal with my van. It only cost me $30.00 bucks. Yep. Apparently, I had a furniture button lodged in the tread of my tire. (Which was causing the loud thumping noise. How the heck does one get a furniture button stuck to one's tire??) It didn't rupture the tire, so the tire was still good. I was all happy until the mail came with a $100.00 ticket. I guess driving to my Spanish class a couple of weeks ago, I didn't come to a long enough stop at the red light. I guess sitting for 3 seconds is not enough. (How do I know? Because the state sends you pics that are time elapsed. Isn't that nice of them?) I think I am going to try and contest it. So my day ended up costing me a grand total of $130.00! : (
Well it is what it is.....no use crying over spilled milk....or something like that! Have a great one!

My Halloween Wreath.....

I needed a Halloween wreath for my front door, so I made my own! I used the Crafty Secret's Postcard kit, and some pretty fall picks. I hot glued them into the grapevine wreath. It was really pretty fast and easy to make! : )

When working with the postcard kits, I use Modge Podge to adhere the paper to the chipboard. When it is dry, I use a sanding block to sand the edges. Sometimes I leave the edges white, sometimes I distress them with brown ink. It's just a preference. :)
Well....my van is in the shop......again. I was on my way to Miracles Happen baseball on Saturday when it was making a very loud thumping noise. So needless to say, we didn't make it to baseball and I took the van in. I am hoping it is nothing major. I swear I need a part time job just to pay for the van's repairs! Errrgh!

So keep your fingers crossed that it is nothing too expensive!
