Finding Inspiration

Hi friends!  I hope you are having a great week!  I tend to struggle with masculine cards a bit, so I do what any good crafter does.....get inspiration from other card makers. ;)  Kristina Werner's blog is one I visit quite frequently.  I saw THIS card on her blog and thought it would be perfect for my dad and my father-in-law's Father's Day card.  I used Whimsy Stamp's Comic Speech Bubbles Die set.  I cut a bunch of them in various colors of card stock.  (A great way to use up those scraps you keep!) I layered them over black card stock.  Some were popped up with Crafty Foam Tape
I added Dad using the new Cutie ABC Die set.  I stamped a sentiment on the word bubble from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear stamp set.  For a pop of color I added a teeny heart from the Sweetheart's Sprinkletz collection.

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a wonderful Friday!

Birthday, Father's Day, and Men!

Good morning!
Hard to believe that Father's Day is just a few days away! I am lucky to have both my dad and FIL in my life.  They are both special to me!
I used this Hero Arts stamp and made my own backgrounds with them!
They were colored with Copic markers.  Added a few accents with glossy accents, then embossed the sentiments on black paper using white embossing powder.

I kind of liked how they turned out.  And once again, no glitter, or ribbon, or any frou frou stuff! ;)

Today is a special day for me because 50 years ago my husband was born. The man who would grow up and become my husband, the father of my children, and basically my favorite human being on the face of this earth.
I've been lucky to celebrate 31 of those birthdays with him.
I am truly blessed beyond measure.....
Happy Birthday Brian!

Belated Father's Day!

You know you don't post a lot when your very own Mother-in-law comments on your actual lack of posts!  I have seriously become a total lazy butt! I actually DO make cards! I just need someone to come and take pictures of them, edit them, and load them for me! Especially now with everyone getting fancy with their staging of photos! Such Pressure!! ;)

I have three dads to make Father's Day cards for.  Guess how many I actually made?  Yep. This one right here.  I had to draw straws to see who got it.  (FIL won by the way)
It was a Stampin' Up! set that ironically I borrowed from my MIL.
The image was colored with Copic markers.  I added a bit of glossy accents to the watch and glasses.  I heat embossed the sentiment from an old Papertrey Ink set in white.  I also added a few matching sequins.  Is it appropriate to put sequins on a man's card?
Thanks for not abandoning this crafty ship over here!  I really am trying to get better at posting! ;)

Father's Day Plaid

I created a Father's Day card for my hubby and decided to make my own plaid background.
I used various widths of sticky tape.  I started with the wide strips on an angle, peeled the top off and sprinkled it with red glitter. I did the same with a slightly less wide strip next to it and sprinkled it with navy glitter.  The last layer were the trio of skinny strips.  Those were sprinkled with a lighter shade of blue.

I love this technique and think maybe I need to have a tutorial on it!  Maybe doing a girly version of it! ;)

I used a sticker from SRM for the sentiment.  Then stamped a Papertrey sentiment directly on top. For a finishing touch I added a bit of red ribbon tied with black string, and  several rhinestones.

My poor husband (I mean this quite sarcastically...he has already golfed 3 times this week) isn't able to golf today.  It has rained here so much that they won't allow carts on the course. So I guess he is stuck with me and the kids today!  On Father's Day of all days! LOL!
Good thing I bought some steaks and a bottle of wine!
Enjoy your Sunday!

Crafty Secret's DT Challenge and Linky Party!

Good morning!  It is the start of a brand new month, which means it is also time for Crafty Secret's DT Challenge and Linky Party!
The theme this month was to make a masculine themed card in honor of the upcoming Father's Day celebration.
I have to admit that masculine cards are not my forte!
It's hard to justify glitter, bling, and doilies on a man's card! LOL!
I used a free printable that Sandy had offered awhile back.
I added a few circles to emulate fish bubbles, with a scattering of sequins, and a bow.
I don't know if adding ribbon is "allowed" on a man's card.....but in my world it is okay! ;)

I wanted my fish to be a bit shimmery (not glittery....just shimmery!) so I reached for my Wink of Stella pen.
I pulled out coordinating papers I printed from Crafty Secrets.

Added my "fish bubbles" and a bit of ribbon/twine.  I think adding the twine made it "legal" to add satin ribbon.  ;)

Be sure to head on over to the other design team member's blogs for more inspiration!
Have a great day!

Happy Father's Day!

Good morning and happy Father's Day to you! I have lots to do since I am having company in a few hours, but I wanted to share a banner I made last year for the Cricut Circle Blog. My dad is a pretty avid golfer, so this banner was perfect for him!  I used the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge.  The banners themselves were cut using the Country Life cartridge.  For my little golf bag, I included a little golf towel that I hand cut from a washcloth and affixed with a teeny eyelet.
Every golfer loves the golf cart.....especially my son....because that's as close to driving as he is going to get for awhile! ; )

And here is the golfer with his crazy golfer outfit.  I don't know if any of your husbands play golf, but dressing is half the fun.  Or maybe that's just my husband? ; ) My husband dresses a bit wacky at times....the more obnoxious the better! So this little golfer was definitely inspired by him!  He orders many of his shorts from a place called Loudmouth Golf.  (The name really says it all doesn't it?)

I used the Cuttlebug's Polka Dots embossing folder to emboss the circles to look like dimples in the golf balls.

Here is the banner in it's entirety.

I am off to get my food ready and the kids up!  Have a great day my friends!

Father's Day Cards!

I am fortunate to have several special men in my life....and I wanted to make a couple of cards for those particular men who love golf. I used my Cricut and the All Sports cartridge to create two golf inspired cards.  My husband's golf bag is yellow and black and I wanted to match it.  Although though my very informative 15 year old told me, "It looks nothing like dad's bag."  Thanks.
The tag was cut from the Sentimental's cartridge. The sentiment is part of JustRite's Going Places Vintage Labels stamp set.

I added a bit of "green" with Martha Stewart's fringe scissors.  I  also adhered a few rhinestones.....hopefully the guys don't mind a bit of bling. ; )

I have one more Father's Day project to share with you tomorrow, so I hope you can stop by for a brief visit! Have a great Saturday!

Father's Day.....and a bit of Golf!

Father's Day is around the corner and I will be the first to admit.....it's a tough "creating" holiday for me.  Why? Because all of my favorite things are out the window. Glitter? Out! Ribbon? Nope! Flowers? Are ya kidding me? So what's a girl to do? Make it simple!  Now on other people, I love simple.  But it's just not me.  I always feel it's missing something.  (Like the ton of crap embellishments I put on my cards usually! ; )

So I did my best.....and this was my end product.  I used JustRite's, Going Places Vintage Labels stamp set.  I stamped it twice and cut out the airplane. I did a bit of embossing, added a bit of twine and added ONE orange pearl.  That's it. Simple. For me anyway.
And many of you were asking about my golf experience.  Overall it was a good one!  The weather was perfect, I was on a "date" with my hubby, and I was with good friends.  (Which we forgot to get a picture of all 4 of us!) My favorite is our friend, Rich, who is looking for his golf ball in the "rough."  See? I know golf lingo!

My pain in the butt van is in the shop again. The air has been broken for over a year.....long story. But let me just tell you, having a handicapped van stinks! Nothing about it has been easy or inexpensive. The money we've spent on maintaining it is ridiculous! So I am trying a new mechanic and keeping my fingers crossed that he will be able to fix my air!
Have a great day my friends!

JustRite's New Release, Day One!

JustRite has done it again! They've come out with some fabulous new sets just in time for Father's Day! I used the new set called Anchors Away to create my little pocket card.  The wonky card shape was cut using my Cricut and the Wild Card cartridge.  To enhance the card's nautical theme I took some medical gauze and spritzed it with brown Glimmer Mist.  I used some spray adhesive and gave it a light coating so may sprinkling of sand would stick!
I stamped the anchor in Pure Poppy, used a gold pen to accent the chain, and gave it a coating of Crystal Effects.
I stamped the sentiment and the ship on the tag.   A bit of rustic twine and stick pins were added.
Here is the set in its entirety. Fabulous right? ; )

The Design Team has rocked this set out....so be sure to see all of their fabulous projects using this set!
