Real Love....

Did I ever tell you how I met my husband? It is quite the story......I was 15 1/2 and working at the local Burger King's drive thru. (I lied about my age to get the job.....and to my surprise didn't ask for a birth certificate for several months....)One night, a group of teenage guys comes pulling up to my window and this particularly skinny, tall blond haired boy asked if he could have my number. What the heck did I know? I was 15 and had never been asked for my phone number before. So what did I do? Gave him my number. A few days later he called. We chatted a bit only to discover he was 19 and had just graduated high school. Wellllllll I couldn't tell my parents that! So I lied (again) and told them he was just 18 and a senior in school. I don't think they actually found out his real age until we got married! We dated all through (my) high school.....then college. Right after graduation.....actually 2 weeks later we got married! We've been together ever since. Our marriage has had its share of ups and downs.....but honestly, I wouldn't change a thing. We respect each other and act as a unit....a team. He cracks me up....still! And believe me, having a sense of humor is worth more than gold! It's how we get through the day! I truly love this man......Happy 16th Anniversary!!!

So our anniversary is today......are we doing something romantic you ask? Nope....actually I have a retirement party to go to tonight. And this weekend? Well.......we are taking the kiddos to an indoor water park. Yep......we are allllll about the romance! LOL!
Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

Hi

Happy Thursday to all of you! I am on an official countdown to the end of the school year! Only 7 days left! I am really looking forward to the lazier days ahead. Time to spend with family, friends, and not having such a strict schedule of things to do.

I created this card using Noel Mignon's newest kit, Rise & Shine. (Which is sold out!) Can you tell I love this orange polka dotted paper? I think I have officially used every scrap of it! Love that Noel included lots of "postage stamp" inspired stickers. It certainly makes cardmaking easy!

Just add a pretty Prima flower, button, and a quick sticker sentiment, and voila! Instant card!

Love it when they come together fast and easy! (And believe me.....it doesn't happen too often!)
Have a fantastic day!!!!

Wedding Shower

A week or so ago I mentioned that Cortney's teacher is getting married in June. The school threw her a wedding shower that included her students. I wanted to make her a card. (well actually I HAD to make her a card.....because she knows that I make cards.....and going to Hallmark would NOT be acceptable!) I used this set from Artful Inkables. I used Versamark and black embossing powder. I used my Copic airbrush system to give it a bit of color. I left the Nestibility on to give it a pretty white edge.

I placed a doily under the main image and did a bit of sewing. The paper is Graphic 45. Love its delicious vintagyness! (Is that even a word? and if so.....did I spell it totally wrong?)

The little bouquet of flowers stuck in my ribbon was picked up in the bridal section at Michaels. I have bought some really pretty things in the bridal section at Michaels! : )
That's all I've got for you today! It is such a busy time of the year.......too much to do!
Thanks for stopping!!! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!!

Deviation from my "normal" style!

I love vintage....anything vintage....as any of you who visit me regularly already know. But occasionally a picture just doesn't "work" with vintage. Nope....it screams grunge, rock 'n roll!!! What fits better with Rock 'n Roll, than safety pins? A little Guns 'n Roses perhaps?

Oh yea! My two guys playin' a lil' GUITAR Hero!!!! The inspiration? The plastic from a wine bottle.... seemed reusable....seemed grungy.....seemed perfect for a Rock 'n Roll LO! I took one of my husband's CD covers and put it through the Spellbinders to cut some circles and stars. (shhhh, don't tell......)
Thanks for stopping by and visiting!!! I sooooo appreciate it!!! Happy Tuesday!!!

You Can Travel in a Book!

This week's Bitten by the Bug challenge was to use the bookmark cut on the Animal Kingdom cartridge. I thought I would incorporate the bookmark into a card that can be used for the recipient's favorite books! I used the paper from Noel Mignon's newest kit, Rise & Shine. Love how bright and fun it is!

The sentiment was done using THIS set from JustRite. I love being able to use quotes and sayings I find right on the card! The little "story time" sentiment is from Crafty Secrets. I used my Nestibilities to cut the various size circles. I also sewed a transparency on 3 sides to give the card a "pocket" for the bookmark. : )
The lion was cut several times, distressed, and placed on pop dots for dimension.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We are heading to the Science & Industry Museum today with Kyle to see the Harry Potter exhibit. It is sort of a belated birthday present. He is super excited to go! We have been reading the Harry Potter series together for the last year or so. We are currently on the 4th book, The Goblet of Fire. Should be fun!!!!
Have a WONDERFUL Memorial Day!!!!
