Two of the hottest trends right now in the world of cardmaking and scrapbooking! are Chevron Stripes and Ombre! I found chevron stripes in the most unexpected place…..on the Mother’s Day Kid Cards digital image set. (Cricut Craft Room) It was intended to be the base of the card, but I only wanted the chevrons, so I “hid” the perimeter outlining the stripes. For each card below I used four different shades of the same color, starting with the darkest. I wanted the card to have a clean and simple feel to it.
So my first card is in all blues….to give a tropical feel to it. Perfect for a retirement maybe? I chose a silhouette for the image because I didn't want the chevrons competing with the main image. The palm tree came from the Create a Critter, Cartridge.....in case you wanted to know! ;)
I added rhinestones to the palm tree and sentiment. Speaking of the sentiment, it is a sticker from SRM Stickers. (I adore their stickers!)
For a more rustic card, I chose shades of brown and this darling cowboy image from the A Child’s Year Cartridge.
I added a few rhinestones to his hat and spurs and some rustic twine tied in a knot. Once again, the sentiment is by SRM Stickers.
Lastly, is my girly card in all shades of pink. I chose the stork image from the Sugar & Spice Lite cartridge, and added a sticker flower to its neck with a bit of string.

I am going to a spelling bee tonight for one of my 5th grade students. He is a very special kid and I am excited to see him accomplish something that is really out of his comfort zone.
The rest of the weekend will be crafting and celebrating my mom's birthday. :)
What are you up to?
Have a great weekend!
