Recipe Addict!

Had a great day with my 5th graders yesterday! Spring has FINALLY arrived here in Chicago! IT was sunny and in the mid 60's! After walking and being outside all day, coming back to school, playing SPUD with a few students after school (Part of a mentoring program we are doing), going to Yoga with Cort.........it was an exhausting day! But a GOOD exhausted.

Anyway, on to my crafty project here. I don't know about any of you, but in our household we collect recipes. Ya know books, magazines, clipped recipes from family and friends?! I have an entire cabinet filled with books and papers. My husband is just as bad. EVERY single time he makes a run to the store he comes home with one of those mini recipe books you see at the check out. He comes in like a proud little kid with his new cooking magazine! We also get those Kraft Food magazines every couple of months. You'd swear we were gourmet cooks here. I decided that enough was enough! All those misc. papers and clippings need to be in one spot where I can find them. I ordered this recipe box from Papertrey Ink. I covered it with papers from Crafty Secret's Radiant Pad.

The handle of the box is actually a toy rolling pin that I picked up at Michaels. (Cute right?) I used rub ons to title it. For the top I added a Melissa Frances glittered heart that was sprayed with walnut ink to "dirty" it up a bit. There are various ribbons, buttons, and the circle was stamped with Crafty Secret's So Sweet set, and the Desk/Library/Kitchen set from Just Rite.
At first, I was going to type all of the recipes, but decided that it really wasn't realistic of me. So as much as I hate my handwriting, I decided it would be easier for me to do! I want to be able to add to my box as I need it. I did take strips of Graphic 45 paper to dress up the recipe a bit.

For each of the dividers I used Just Rite's newest set called, Recipe Borders and Centers. For some of them I added a Lockhart image that had been colored and cut out. (Love those lil' radishes!)

So at least now I can channel my addiction into one little box instead of loose all over the kitchen!
What are we having for dinner tonight you ask?
PIZZA! LOL!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!!!!! : )

What's Cookin?

I just received a box full of JustRite stamps at my doorstep the other day! I couldn't wait to dive in and play! I decided to play with the What's Cookin' Set first. I separated the sentiment, What's cookin' from the images of the spoons and oven mitt. The sentiment was tucked behind the apron. (Spellbinder's die cut) and I stamped the spoons, cut them out, and tucked them in the pocket. The oven mitt was also stamped, cut out, Crystal lacquered, and attached to the waistband of the apron. The paper is by Graphic 45 and the little apple is by Lockhart Stamps.

*****Feel crazy busy these last few days.....very little computer time. Working, basketball, therapy (For Cort, not me!), Jr. High orientation for Kyle, and PAINTING AND MORE PAINTING in the living room! I need to get in the craft room and create something! Where does the darn time go??
Have a great Wednesday!!!

Is it Monday ALREADY?

Geesh, the weekends fly by!!! Mine was super busy! Kyle is turning 12 this week and we were trying to get the house cleaned a bit. Saturday night, I went to this fantastic Mexican restaurant with my scrapping girls. And then on Sunday, we went to a Superbowl party at an Italian restaurant on the north side of Chicago. I seriously had 3 servings of Terimasu. (sp?) (can you say, "oink, oink?"

I found these little clippy thingys at Michaels awhile back and knew I had to alter them. ( I have an entire basement full of things I am going to alter.......)

I used some vintage book paper and a Lockhart Itty Bitty stamp. The word is from the Crafty Secret's Fairyland set.
I added the plastic dome over it, some ribbon, floss, and a button to finish it off.

I have a feeling lots of people are heading to work today with a bottle of aspirin and some strong black coffee!!! : )

A Sketch Challenge!

For all of you moms out there who have more than 2 children......my hat goes off to you! I know that I am running, baking, cooking, chasing like a mad woman everyday with the 2 kids I have. How do you do it when you have 3, 4, 5 etc, children? Live in your car? LOL! Seriously, these last couple of weeks are just keeping me on my toes! I try to slow done, take a deep breath and appreciate it. Before I know it, the house will be quiet and the messes will be gone.....

Anyway, I was finally able to squeeze in a challenge over at 2 Sketches 4 You! It is a wonderful place for inspiration, but it seems I never have time to participate. I chose this Lockhart stamp because I needed to build a stash of get well cards. You never know when you need them! I stamped the slippers on 2 separate pieces of DP, cut them out and layered them. I added a pearl as a finishing touch.

The paper I used was pink patterned SU!, Lasting Impressions (distressed white) and Making Memories. It had a bit of a vintage feel to it. I had a scrap of ribbon that had both pink and blue in it and matched perfectly! I tied a SU! button and floss to the ribbon. I also found a jar of cream colored Primas and used that for the upper right hand corner.

It is Friday again!!! Cort has cheerleading tomorrow (Don't worry I promised not to post anymore pics of her! : ) and a Superbowl party on Sunday. And at some point I probably need to fit some laundry, light dusting (Ok.......HEAVY dusting), and maybe clean a toilet or two.......
On that note......HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

Quickies!

No....not those kind of quickies! More like, Just Rite quickies! I teach 5th grade and sometimes need to send little notes to other staff members and thought these would be perfect! I found a huge box of note cards and matching envelopes at Target. They were in the clearance aisle for 7 bucks! The paper is heavy cardstock....very nice quality! I used some scraps of paper for a bit of color and used my Just Rite stamps for the sentiment. The coffee cup is a Lockhart image. I colored these babies in with my Copics and cut them out. I added crystal effects to each. A little distressing to the edges and I've got some handy note cards!

Have yourself a fantastic weekend!!!
