Your Support Means Everything!

Created by Michele Kovack

Good morning  my friends! I have a new card today with minimal embellishments! (gasp!) After spending a bit of time coloring this beautiful rose by Crafty Secrets, I didn't want to take away from it. The digital image can be found HERE.  I used my Prisma colored pencils and a white gel pen.  The background was given a bit of depth using Tim Holtz inks in shades of brown, green, yellow, and blue. I masked off the rose and gave it a bit of black water color splatter.

The sentiment was cut from the Girlfriend Creative Scraps.  I threaded some sheer gold ribbon vertically to finish off the card.

I am fighting a cold and woke up this morning with no voice.  Teaching 26 kids might be a bit of a challenge today! ;)
Wish me luck.....I'm gonna need it!

Crafty Secrets and Word Art Wednesday!

Good morning! I am excited to be a guest designer for Word Art Wednesday!
Crafty Secrets if offering one lucky person a $20.00 digital prize! Really Reasonable Ribbon is also offering a $10.00 prize!
I had the pleasure of working with this beautiful scripture.  I incorporated it with a digital Thanksgiving image from Crafty Secrets.  I merged the two using Photoshop.  I printed it on white cardstock and colored the image using Prisma Colored pencils.  I used a Spellbinder's die to cut out the image.  While the die was in place I sponged around it using several Tim Holtz inks in brown, green, and a bit of blue.

I splattered the perimeter with a bit of water and then a bit of black water color paint.  I removed the die to have a wonderful white crisp edge!  I added coordinating silk ribbon and pearls to the corners. And just because you know how much I LOVE sparkle, I added Ice Stickles to the perimeter of the card, as well as the veggies!

I want to take a moment to thank our Veterans.
I appreciate everything  you do to serve and protect this great country of ours.
Thank you for always keeping me company in my little cyber spot!
Have a wonderful day!

Farm Fresh

Good morning!  I finally got myself motivated to take pictures of my cards.!
My card today uses a digital image from Crafty Secrets. It is part of the Farm Chicks collection.
I used my Spectrum Noir markers to bring the roosters to life.

Once I was satisfied with the colors of the roosters, I took Cotton Candy Stickles and painted it on.  It gives the color a bit more pop and of course a bit of sparkle too!
I matted the image using a Spellbinder's die.

Behind the die cut rectangle is rooster paper that you can find HERE.
A bit of ribbon, a fancy glass doo dad, and a few rhinestones were added as finishing touches!

I am excited to tell you that Cort's wound is healing and she gets to go back to school today!
She is so happy to see her friends and teachers!
This has been a long journey for her, and it does my heart good to see her happy and smiling again.
Have a great day my friends!!!

Crafty Secret's Design Team Challenge and Tutorial!

Good morning my fellow crafty people!
Today is Crafty Secret's design team challenge and linky party! AND I have a tutorial to boot!
I had purchased cute little Jelly Belly boxes for Valentine's Day.
So I thought it might be cute to alter them.
Because that's what I do. Take cute things and make them cuter.
;)
I love, love, love shaker cards and made mini ones with the little jars. I filled 'em up with sequins and clear Microbeads.
Here are the boxes I purchased in the Valentine aisle at Target.
I apologize in advance for the poor photos.  That's what happens when you take the photos at night. :)
I covered each box with musical paper from the Crafty Secret's Valentine kit.
I printed the jars from the Button up digital set. I made them pretty small, 2 inches.

I took my X-acto knife and cut the inside out.

I am a bit X-acto knife challenged, so as soon as I had the opportunity to use my scissors, I took it!

I wanted the jar to be silver, so I used my Silver Sharpie marker to trace the outside of the jar.
I added a piece of acetate to the back of the jar, glued it, and added my magnets to hold it down until it was dry.
I printed the flowers at a 1/2 inch so they would fit nicely on the jar.
I gave it a bit of color using watercolors.  I wasn't super neat because I knew I would be cutting the image out, and adding glitter to it.

I wanted to add a little heart to the center and used a punch and glitter.

The most challenging part was to add the foam tape skinny enough to fit on the jar.

Once the foam was in place I filled it with sequins and microbeads.

Then I added string, the flower and heart to finish off the jar.

Here is one more look at the final product. :)
Be sure to check out the other DT gal's projects!

Chicago got about 14 inches of snow yesterday, so today the kids and I are off!
I am thinking a pajama day is in order!

A Rose by any Other Name.......

Quoting Shakespeare on a Monday morning......it must be getting close to the school year! ;)
I have been so busy with life stuff that my crafting time has been sort of pushed aside lately.  But when I don't feel like "creating" per se, I like to at least color.  Then when I'm in the mood at a later time, I'll put together a card. I have been coloring a lot with my Inktense pencils.  I truly love playing and experimenting with these pencils.
Today's card uses a digital image from Crafty Secrets.  It is part of the Digital Garden Memories set.  I colored it in using shades of red and pink, and yellows and greens for the leaves.  Once the rose was completely dry, I added a bit of black to the shadows.  The beauty of these pencils is you can use them wet like a watercolor, or completely dry like a regular colored pencil.
All of the papers used here are by Crafty Secrets.  I just layered them, added a doily peeking out from the main image, and lots of satin ribbon to tie it all together.
This is my last full week off, and I still have lots of loose ends to tie up....like getting brakes and an oil change today.  I always hold my breath when I take my van in.....because you just never know what else they will find! Fingers crossed that it is a painless visit to the Toyota dealer.
Hope you all have a great day!
Thank you for stopping by!
