Hello...Hello...Hello....

Good morning and Hello to you!  I am up on the SRM blog today with a happy card using SRM's Big Hello set.  I watercolored the background with my Zig Clean Brush Markers and then embossed it.  The sentiment was stamped on a transparency using Staz On ink.  I layered it over the water colored panel. 

I added a few sequins, and some pretty silk ribbon from the Stamp Simply Store.  

I am going to keep it short and sweet today!

Crafty Secret's November Design Team Challenge and Linky Party!

Good morning and welcome to a brand new month!

It can mean only one thing.......the Crafty Secret's Design Team Challenge and Linky Party! Wahoo!

This month's theme was Christmas, but anything but a card.

My project this month all started with the metal piece that served as my ornament.  I've probably had it a hundred years and decided at this particular moment, that it would make a cute ornament. ;) And who wants to just hand someone an ornament? No one!  So I created the box with my Silhouette to make a cute little presentation! 

A little paint, a bit (or a lot) of glitter, a cute retro Santa, and a couple of jingle bells and you've got yourself a sweet ornament!

Fuzzy earmuffs anyone?

The metal thingy-a-bob was given several coats of cream colored paint.  Once dry I put some glossy accents along the outer edge and then sprinkled glitter over it.

I am all about the little touches, so I grabbed some red Flower Soft and gave Mr. Snowman some fuzzy ear muffs. By the way, the retro Santa is part of the Crafty Secret's Retro Christmas collection.  I cut it into a circular shape using a Circle Spellbinder's die. 

I didn't want the image too recessed in my metal thingy, so I added a bit of foam tape from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  I used a bit of Tacky glue to make sure it didn't go anywhere. 

Consider it extra security if you will! :)

Does anyone use clothespins A LOT when they craft?  I am constantly using them to hold items in place because I myself am way too impatient to hold it  myself!  I wanted a bit of gold tinsel around the circle.  Tinsel seemed perfect for this ornament, so lo and behold, the clothespins did my work for me. ;)

And one more look...in case you forgot because you were so bedazzled with my clothespins above. ;)

Vintage Halloween Witch's Hat!

Good morning! Happy Halloween Eve! I truly can not believe it is the end of October already! Where the heck did the time go?  Halloween already? Geez!

So to celebrate one of my most favorite holidays, I have a little witch's hat!

The hat itself is a Silhouette cut.  

I used digital Halloween papers from Crafty Secrets for the entire project.  You can find them HERE. 

I just can't help myself with the glitter, so I gave in to my obsession and glittered the heck out of my hat! 

I added a few feathers, ribbon, and a flower.  The stick pin includes a sticker from Crafty Secret's Halloween Digital Scraps   collection.  

My girl insisted on being a pink pirate this year.  (This girl LOVES pink!)Tomorrow we head to my sisters to do some pumpkin carving, trick or treating, and a bonfire.  :) I am going to do the NO rain dance tonight! Last year's Halloween was a wash due to the extreme cold and rain, it would be so nice for the kids to be able to get out!

Digital and Watercolors....Can they be Friends?

Digital images and water colors.  

Can it be done? 

I experimented with this idea and did have a couple of failed attempts. My problem was often too much water. You definitely need a light hand when it comes to the water!  This digital image from Crafty Secrets was printed in a light brown color.  I wanted the lines as a guide nothing more. This image is pretty detailed so keeping the depth and shadows was a bit of a challenge.  I used my Zig Clean Brush Markers.  I love these markers because you can use the fine tip to get into small areas. 

I used shades of red, orange, and yellow, with a bit of black to fill in the shadows.  I cut the image using a Circle die from Spellbinders as well as a scalloped die.  The background was done with a stencil and Tim Holtz Inks. I added silk ribbon from the Stamp Simply store and a few sequins to finish it off.  

So I guess my answer to the question above is yes.  Digital and water colors can be friends!

Autumn in Layers!

Good morning! I am up on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog today!  I have a quick mini tutorial on how I created my fall card.  I was inspired by my wreath on the front door and one of those, "AH-HA" moments! ;) 

There are lots of layers....and glitter.....and watercolors.......*sigh* 

And of course products from some of my favorite companies, Quickutz, Zig Clean Brush Markers, SRM Stickers, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Spellbinders......

I am off to a "murder" mystery dinner show tonight! ;)

Obsessed with Pumpkins!

Good morning! I am up on the SRM Stickers blog with a fun watercolored, die cut, stickered card! (say that 10 times fast!) I am a part of the "pumpkin obsessed" group! From my breakfast cereal, to my coffee creamer....I LOVE pumpkin! 

So...to continue this trend, I thought I would pull out my new...yet old, Quickutz pumpkin dies. There were water colored and given a bit of sparkle with Stickles.  I added a tiny piece of doily, string, and a clear yellow dew drop.

The background was also water colored and once dry I adhered my SRM sticker from the Fall Collection and pumpkins. The pretty silk ribbon is from the Stamp Simply Store. 

The week is winding down and I am so glad!

We are taking my MIL out for her birthday which means my son comes home from college for the night. On Saturday we are doing one of those murder mystery thingies.  I've never done one, but it sounds like fun!

JustRite's October Release-Peonies!

Today is the last day of JustRite's October release! I hope you have had as much fun as I did!

The set I am showcasing today is called, Peonies.  I love flowers and having a set I can color. 

The flowers here are big and bold and fit perfectly with the mason jar. 

I created a shaker element with it, by using the dies that coordinate with this set, Peonies and Mason Jars.  I added a bit of silk ribbon and stamped the sentiment on a tiny tag. I adhered the flowers/mason jar to a Spellbinder's oval and scalloped oval. 

I added a gold doily behind the jar and sheer gold ribbon.
