JustRite's Mega Font Hop & Mini Tutorial!

OK, buckle down, cuz this is gonna be a long post! I have a couple of projects here to show you and a mini tutorial! This first project alters a Ghiradelli chocolate bag. I used the JR Brayton font on my horizontal wood stamper to stamp the words, Boo (95pt) & EEK! (25 pt) There were stamped with Versamark and sprinkled with black embossing powder. The center image is JR's Witch Way to The Treats, set. It was also stamped in Versmark and black embossing powder. I added sparkle to his body using my Sakura glue pen and ultrafine glitter.

The rectangles were cut using my Spellbinder's Nestibilities.
My next projects uses the Brayton font (95pt) as well. (Can you tell it's one of my favorite fonts?) I wanted to achieve a two toned effect. (Which if you scroll down I show you how to do it!) So I used a combination of orange and black inks. I cut the words out and placed them over my felt spider web. I did some sewing, added a bat and spider. (Which are sparkly.....gotta love a spider or bat who sparkles!) : )

I love the look of the two colors!

Here is a quick easy way to get those two tone letters! I used the 95 pt Curlz Font for this example.

And here is another finished example using this fun technique!
I am so glad you stopped by today! Don't forget to stop on by the other talented designers! Not only will you be incredibly inspired, but you may have a shot at winning JR's secret blog candy! It is such a mystery that not even the designers know who has the blog candy! So leave some love here and at the other blogs for your chance to win some fabulous prizes!

Vintage Birthday and an Announcement!

Happy Thursday to you! I wanted to share a card I created for my dad this past Monday for his birthday. I struggle with masculine cards. It's kind of like buying men clothes.....something you have to do, but not always real exciting. I had this golfer in my collection for awhile, and since my dad is a golfer, I decided to use it! I used a "tweed" background stamp from SU! first and then stamped my golfer on top of it with Momento Ink. The edges were distressed a bit. I used vintage book paper and Graphic 45. I paired it up with some buttons and twine to finish it off. I was pretty pleased with the end result! (And I think dad liked it too!)

For my announcement.....(No I am not expecting! LOL) JustRite is hosting their MEGA FONT HOP!!! There will be 54 talented designers showcasing all the things you can do with FONTS! It will be split between today and tomorrow. (I will be showing mine tomorrow!) In addition to you will receive 30% off all JR Font sets and the Horizontal or Vertical wood stamps, if you purchase them from Sept. 17-24th.
Make sure you visit the JR Blog to start. If you leave comments on the designer's blogs you may be entered to win some fabulous blog candy. I say "may" because it is a hidden blog candy.....even the designers don't know about it! But as usual, JR is VERY generous with their giveaways! So you don't want to miss your chance to win!
OK, sales pitch over (LOL!) ....... I need to get my rear in gear and head off to work! : )

Take a Break!

I colored this High Hopes image awhile ago and decided it was time to put it together.......cuz it kind of looks like me. (OK, maybe like 30 something years ago.....but still.....) This is what my weekends have consisted of, cleaning, painting, reorganizing etc. (I think a paintbrush in her hand with definitely complete the picture!) So now that there is light at the end of the tunnel.....it is time to take a break! This weekend, we are planning to spend the afternoon downtown at Lincoln Park Zoo and then walk the lakefront. (Assuming it is a nice day!) That means no painting, no cleaning, no reorganizing......just time together. The house will wait.

I colored her with my Copics. For the life of me, maybe because it is still early and I haven't had enough coffee, but I can't remember who the DP is by.

I just have one last thing to ask......do people really unsubscribe to a blog because there are too many posts??? I kind of thought that was the whole idea? Just had to laugh when I got a notice from Feedblitz.
Oh well......it's all good! Have a great Tuesday!!!!

Live Life to the Fullest....

I try to live by this motto everyday. I try to enjoy each day and appreciate the little things in life. I don't want to wish the weeks away and constantly look ahead. I want to enjoy the here and now. The days with my children are fleeting and going so very fast. So even though sometimes my weeks get crazy and I'm ready to pull out my hair, I quickly remind myself that it's ok. It's life. It's my very full, but satisfying life.

This weekend I had the pleasure of spending Saturday shopping and having lunch with my little family. We finished buying the things we needed to complete Kyle's room at IKEA. Just some bookshelves and such. That night my sweet hubby and I had a date. He took me to a steakhouse and then a comedy club. (I haven't been to a comedy club in years!) It was fun and I so appreciate the time and energy it took for him to plan our night out together. On Sunday all of us headed to the north side of Chicago to Misericordia's Family Fest. The weather was absolutely glorious. Driving along Lake Shore Drive, we soaked up the sights, the people, and the beautiful weather! Kyle volunteered at the children's games for a few hours while Brian and I played a bit of BINGO and then did our shift in the "Main Tent." Basically we picked up other people's garbage! LOL! I couldn't help looking around and feeling my heart swell at the amount of people there to support such a wonderful organization. (For those of you who don't know what Misericordia is, it is a residential home for disabled children and adults .) I can only hope someday that Cort will have a home there. I pray every night that she will be accepted there. There is NO other place quite like it.

Just a quick page about me. I try to include myself in my books every now and then. My children should know who I am and what I stand for...........I will always tell them to Live Life to the Fullest.
I know it is Monday........but it's all good.........have a great one!

P.S.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! : )
