Adhesive as a Design Element

 Good morning and happy hump day!  I have a card to share with you today that I created for Prime Publishing using products from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  I wanted to do something with these dimensional foam squares besides just placing them behind a piece of paper.  I wanted to create some type of design element with them.  While the foam squares are on the sheet I cut them into 3x3 pieces.  I carefully peeled off the tops and placed my light blue paper on top of it.  Since they are sticky on both sides I was able to flip it, peel the tops off of that side and then sprinkle it with silver glitter.  

I swiped the edges of the blue paper with Versamark and sprinkled it with silver embossing powder.  I adhered that over a pink scalloped square with Crafty Foam Tape.  The sentiment was cut using Scrapbook Adhesives Crafty Foam sheet.  I ran it through my die cut machine, peeled off the top and sprinkled a pale pink glitter over it.  I glued it to the silver squares.  

I felt like it needed a pop of color and little bit of somethin' somethin', so I took two leaves and coated them in a lime green glitter.  I also cut a small flower from the leftover Crafty Foam sheet and adhered that to the leaves.  I tied a bit of white string and placed it under the blue glittery flower.  I glued a pearl to the center for the last finishing touch.

Easter Owl!

Good morning and happy Saturday to you!

I am up on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog today with this little guy!

I created an ordinary owl using a Sizzix die, into an EASTER owl! ;)

A few oval punches to make bunny ears.....

A few glittery eggs cut using my Silhouette, a sentiment from JustRite, ribbon (Okay maybe it's a girl owl?), and some of my favorite adhesive!

Easter Wishes

Good morning to you!  

I am headed out the door to do a few errands, and thought I would post a quick Easter card I had created.  It uses a pretty wreath cut from the Silhouette Store. 

I added glitter to each of the eggs and adhered it to the wreath. I backed the Easter wreath with a Martha Stewart doily.  

I added a a sentiment from The Mixed Messages stamp set by Papertrey Ink, flowers, and some ribbon.  As a final touch I added a few coordinating sequins.

Glass Easter Egg Tutorial

So even though we got 6 inches of snow dumped on us yesterday, I am still in Easter mode. I had stopped at Michaels the other day and found these oval shaped glass ornaments.  I knew immediately that I wanted to turn them into carrots!

I am going to fill them with jelly beans and place them at each person's place setting for Easter. (Yes, I have small family!) ;) 

Here are the supplies you will need to alter the glass eggs.  

Use Modge Podge and a foam brush to give it a coating of glue.  

Then sprinkle with orange glitter! (I LOVE this part!) 

Let them dry for about a half an hour or so.  (Maybe grab a snack or have a cup of hot tea while you are waiting.)  

I wanted the caps to sparkle too, so I added a bit more Modge Podge and sprinkled lime green glitter. (By this point you will be pretty sparkly!) 

For the leaves I forgot to put the Distress ink in the above supplies photo.  I wanted my leaves to have a bit of sparkle and dimension too...... 

First, ink the edges and the crease down the center vein of the leaf.  

Then I kind of take my two fingers and squish it in opposite directions to give it a more realistic look. Because when you are making glittery carrots out of glass ornaments, realism is really important. LOL! 

I then added a few drops of glossy accents and took my finger to spread the glue. (And now you won't just be sparkly, but inky, and gluey too!) 

Then dump clear coarse glitter over the leaves and let dry. 

For the carrot stems you will need 3 pieces of ribbon.  They were about 7 inches long.  Stack them on top of one another.  

Then fold in half. 

Put it through the hanger part. 

And pull the ends through. 

I cut each ribbon strip into 3 skinnier strips.   

I took raffia and tied it around the cap of the ornament. Then just glue your leaves and flower to the center of the bow.

Vintage Crow...

Good morning!  It's the start of a brand new week! (Okay that was me trying to convince myself that I am happy it is Monday.) ;)

I had a little bit of time to create this weekend. I am still in Halloween mode so I created this little number. Not quite your typical Halloween color scheme. ;)

The image is from Crafty Secrets.  It is part of the Halloween Labels set. It was given a bit of color with my Inktense pencils.  The perimeter was given a thick coat of black, sparkly Stickles.  All of the patterned paper is from Crafty Secrets. 

I added sequins, ribbon, and a glittery black spider. 

That's it for me today....gotta run and mold young minds! ;)
