Chevrons and Ombre!

Two of the hottest trends right now in the world of cardmaking and scrapbooking! are Chevron Stripes and Ombre!  I found chevron stripes in the most unexpected place…..on the Mother’s Day Kid Cards digital image set. (Cricut Craft Room) It was intended to be the base of the card, but I only wanted the chevrons, so I “hid” the perimeter outlining the stripes.  For each card below I used four different shades of the same color, starting with the darkest.  I wanted the card to have a clean and simple feel to it.
So my first card is in all blues….to give a tropical feel to it.  Perfect for a retirement maybe? I chose a silhouette for the image because I didn't want the chevrons competing with the main image. The palm tree came from the Create a CritterCartridge.....in case you wanted to know! ;)

I added rhinestones to the palm tree and sentiment.  Speaking of the sentiment, it is a sticker from SRM  Stickers.  (I adore their stickers!)
For a more rustic card, I chose shades of brown and this darling cowboy image from the  A Child’s Year Cartridge.
I added a few rhinestones to his hat and spurs and some rustic twine tied in a knot.  Once again, the sentiment is by SRM  Stickers.
Lastly, is my girly card in all shades of pink. I chose the stork image from the  Sugar & Spice Lite cartridge, and added a sticker flower to its neck with a bit of string.

I am going to a spelling bee tonight for one of my 5th grade students.  He is a very special kid and I am excited to see him accomplish something that is really out of his comfort zone.
The rest of the weekend will be crafting and celebrating my mom's birthday. :)
What are you up to?
Have a great weekend!

Friendship....

Good morning friends! I am hoping that I'm not losing my mind (I probably am), and that I hadn't previously posted this card and then forgot that I did so! That would be so typical of me!
I created this card using a clear sticker that had been in my stash for ages.
It was the kind of sticker that you sprinkle something pretty over it.....like glitter. ;) I chose this pretty brown by Martha Stewart.  I paired it with a sentiment and papers from the Paperloft.
I added a satin ribbon, a bit of lace, and a chocolate pearl.  It was once again, a fairly easy card to create, which for me is really saying something! ;)

Button Card

Good morning to you my crafty friends!  Hope you are off to a great start this Monday morning! As for me, I have been battling a cold all weekend.  I'd like to say it's gone, but it is still lingering.......boo. :(
I have a Crafty Secret's card to share with you today using some brand new digi images.  This month's release was sewing related images along with button cards.
Sewing? Buttons? Vintage?
I'm all over that!
I added buttons to the center of the card, sheer ribbon, and a rolled flower using my Silhouette.  The leaves are by Spellbinders.  Lots of layers, but a quick and easy card to make.
Be sure to check in tomorrow as I will be hosting a giveaway!
Have a fantastic Monday!
