It's The Little Things in Life....

I love the expression that life isn't made up of a few big things, but rather a million little things.....or something like that. Isn't that the truth? Some things, like that first cup of coffee in the morning, my good morning hug and kisses from the kids, checking the mail after work for those fun little packages, the unexpected call from a friend......are the many things that make me smile. I have learned not to take one single thing for granted......constantly count your blessings.....because in the blink of an eye, life can change. : )

I have a Crafty Secret's card to share with you today. I used the new Material Girl set. It is such a fun vintage set! I used Basic Grey's new Kioshi paper and cut many frames using my Spellbinders to create a "negative" frame for the image. I was going for a "shadow box" effect. So I used dimensional foam squares between the layers. I added some black tulle to the dress form and a few pearls. Behind the dress form I airbrushed it using a Scalloped Spellbinders die and my airbrush system. I wrapped real thread around the "thread holder. "
See the purple thread on the "thread holder?" : )
Speaking of enjoying life's little moments, I have a couple of photos of Cort to share with you. We decided to set up the Wii in her bedroom and have her try her hand at bowling. Welllllll...........let me just tell you.........she LOVED it!!! She got so excited to see the pins fall down. She quickly learned where the "A" button was, but did need help releasing the "B" button. (Which is why her daddy was helping her here!) She played 3 games! Brian and I were so excited to see her excited to play! With her physical limitations, the fact that she was sitting on a regular kitchen chair, holding her body up, her head up, using the controller, and pushing the buttons......was amazing! She got 45 minutes of therapy without really knowing it! There are so few things Cortney really enjoys.......so this was heartwarming.......and yes........brought her mama, (and I think her daddy a little bit too), to tears........ : )

Thank you for letting me share an ordinary, life moment with you........... : )
Have a wonderful Monday!!!!

Michelle - there's absolutely nothing ordinary about the life moment with Cort. On the contrary - it's extraordinary. To miss a single moment in Cort's life, is to miss an entire life time. Your card is stunning too, BTW.

GORGEOUS card, Michele! Love everything you did to it--the airbrushing is a perfect backdrop...

Sometimes the "ordinary" life moments are the most spectacular, aren't they? When we slow down and really look at them, they're amazing! Glad you captured this one so beautifully!

What a fabulous card! I love the window design and those awesome sewing images!

I have a son with autism so I can relate to your daughter enjoying Wii bowling! Christopher is always so anxious and worried, it's always awesome to see him relax and enjoy something and to let go of the anxiety. We went to a Lego showing this weekend, he LOVES building Legos! It was great to see him really take in all the creations there. However brief as there were so many people and he couldn't take much of that.

M-I agree-my son has different abilities too and he gets frustrated when we play Wii games..but he can do the bowling with assistance and he actually likes the Wii cycling (Wii Resort)..gotta squeeze the fine motor skills in wherever/whenever we can!! We do rejoice in the small things that others take for granted!

Oh she is so beautiful ~ she's just precious!!! I know what it's like to see those moments of them having fun and not even realizing you are doing therapy with them. I love it when they can enjoy the things that we just take for granted most times. When you watch them enjoy it so much and how it just helps them you begin to see things through another eye. I find myself doing that very thing often with my son ~ he's special needs and has various delays and things ~ he's the Greatest Blessing from God for our family. He's our only child; not because of the way he is, but because it was way too much of a health risk for myself to have another child. I am enjoying so much of him and enjoy my days crafting and playing with him. Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos of Cort. She's a jewel!!! Love her smile ~ you see the enjoyment she's receiving just in playing the game.
